Eight Tips to Make More Money on Triond – Number of Posts, Seo, Commenting and More

The article covers what I learned through hard work, trial and error and research through my six months in Triond. I give reasons and examples. I didn’t include anything that didn’t work for me.

I’ve been writing on Triond for about 6 months now and I learned a lot about what works and why. My knowledge is of course not perfect, but it is based on how my earnings and traffic numbers evolved. I previously wrote an article comparing blogging with writing on Triond –with similarities and differences. I wrote about the time it takes to write and publish, choosing topics and more.

It remains to be one of my most liked and visited articles. Now I’ll delve into the subject more, with examples, reasons and this time, it is concentrated on Triond. It also takes many more factors and strategies into account.

-

Commenting: I previously mentioned how not to comment and why on another article. Now it is time to explore why commenting works- especially if you follow a couple of guidelines. Commenting is an amazing way to make new friends on Triond. For one, it really prevents the isolated feeling you get from writing on your own. Of course you have friends in your social life. And it is great if you know writers too. But most often, we don’t know any writers in our circles and our friends who don’t write don’t get what it is like. So you comment-but you comment by showing you read their work and more often than not, they will come and visit your work. This starts a great communication and chatting about each other’s topics. Even greater if you follow them on social media too. Sometimes your comment will go unnoticed. It may not even be the writer’s fault. Triond statistics aren’t very detailed and you don’t get notified so it is easy to miss the comments through your everyday hassles. Comment again. Comment once more. Obviously if you haven’t heard from the writer, after 3-4 comments, you will realize that he/she is probably not interested in your work. So what? It might be because they don’t really like to comment. Don’t take it personal. My blog gets nearly 1000 people some days and the percentage of comments is very low compared to that. Also, you might have noticed that an article that has been viewed 100 times, might get 10 comments. Even if the author doesn’t comment, you can realize a great thing from the commenting patterns. You’ll begin to see that writers have mutual friends and some names will appear again and again on article comments. This means those people are into commenting. Great. Share the love with them. See? There is no such thing as waste of time with Triond.

-          The most traffic: Sadly, there is no absolute rule on what gets the most traffic. Sure, some topics in general draw a larger audience such as tips on making more money, getting more beautiful, improving relationships…etc. While a good and interesting article has a good chance, some of my most read articles came as a surprise. Sure, we can contribute this to advertising revenue. But that doesn’t make us any wiser. Here are the surprises:

Dorian Gray : I write movie reviews all the time but my biggest hit is Dorian Gray. Ben Barnes and Colin Firth (the starring actors) aren’t the most popular actors ever, the movie did good but did not exactly become a smash hit. I didn’t use a different style or advertised differently. You may check it out and let me know what you think.

Yes, it did better than my most articles on demanded topics.

Jon Bon Jovi hosts SNL: This article is about the Saturday night live episode. Jon Bon Jovi hosted the show and also performed with the rest of his band as a musical guest. He appeared in hilarious stints. The article is funny because the stints were. Any SNL fan or a rock or a Bon Jovi fan will have a blast. Read it to have fun. You can also read it to see if there is anything more magnetic about that post.

SEO: Search engine optimization is a concept we should all pay attention to. Triond sometimes does a great job at recommended keywords- Bukisa is even better at this. You also need to put the obvious tags. If it is a Mel Gibson-related post, his name will definitely be amongst them. It will also help if you can include the most important in the title. Below are some of my keyword-in-the-title posts that got a lot of traffic

Pretty Woman: Movie Review of The Unrealistic Yet Adorable Romantic Comedy: Almost everyone has heard of Pretty Woman- most know it is the high-grossing, ever-popular film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. But if you don’t know it- it is OK. The title tells you it is a romantic comedy. So if you are a romantic comedy fan (and romcom is a popular genre), the title will lure you. I also hint that it is a positive review- so you can just visit it to get nostalgic. There is a chance I would get even higher views if I had included Richard and Julia to the title.

Who do you like more? Keanu Reeves or Brad Pitt:

Another SEO-friendly post. The post is all about comparing Keanu and Brad, two vastly popular actors.

-          Gerard Butler: Yes, as my various Triond statistics keeps showing me, people love reading about Butler. It is a good thing that I like writing about this fun and talented actor. He brings in clicks and advertising revenue too. It also helps to write about him when he has just released a movie.

5 Reasons to Love Gerard Butler

The lesson? Being interested in a popular figure is good for you. You will be writing about something you like (hence, the fun) and you will attract visitors that share the same interest. And if you like something, it is easier and faster to write about it.

-          Actresses: It is a simple but fascinating little fact I discovered. Not just for Triond  but for my blog too. Do you know who gets even more traffic then Gerard Butler? Or Clive Owen? Or Mel Gibson? Michelle Pfeiffer. And I am not talking about articles featuring nude or hot pictures. Movie reviews and movie photos. Now, Michelle has always been popular. She has been making movies since the 80s and she at least a couple massive hits every few years. Oh, and she is still gorgeous. I am not saying you should all go write about her but you might notice Siena Miller gets more hits over  Jude Law and Susan Sarandon over James Spader. If you like writing celebrities, make a little research and see what you can come up with. Here is the Michelle Pfeiffer Post:

Wolf Movie Review: Starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Jack Nicholson and James Spader

-          List posts: List posts are golden. Love your numbering and bulletins. This is agreed by  even the richest and most famous probloggers. Emphasis on the rich and famous part.

List posts are fun because they are very easy to write, read and follow. My most read

blog post (on my  blog) ever is 20 Reasons to Love Stardust

(yep, it has the SEO, the listing and the movie stars Michelle Pfeiffer). Yep, killing

more than 1 bird with 1 stone is a solid strategy. And most of my most read posts

            are lists. For instance:

Rock N Roll Mischief: 10 Dirty Rock Songs

Six Diverse Movies From The Beautiful Actress Maria Bello

             Top 5 Movie Endings

             9 Movies with Awesome Endings

-          Information-rich Articles: Authority is valuable. Share what you learned and

practiced and/or experienced. Of course, it works beter with a little edge, maybe with some humor. We are always after some information in the areas that interest us the most. And all areas have their audience. Sure, some areas have more audience. But it is mostly a trial and error to see what Works best. My information articles:

- Quantity: Do not give up on quality by any means but 3 well-written articles are

usually better than 1 perfect article. You are here because you want to share your work. Fine. But you also want to make money. Fortunately, the more people you share your work with, the more money you make. While our writing means a lot to us, you have to realize that no or very few readers will be discouraging. Why is quantity important? Simple. SEO. Search engines bring you traffic. So you want to be visible. More keywords, better chance of being noticed. Plus, variety is always good. You may have one article in music, another in gomestic and another in bizcovering. And what do you know? 3 different articles in 3 different fields. Not only you will make more money, you will have more diverse experience. And editors love diverse. As much as we love, we like to write for other places. Publications.

And don’t forget the cumulative effect of Triond. I am still getting clicks on my articles and I am making a hell lot more than the times when I had just 3 pieces online.

The things I listed above worked very well for me. I hope I could provide at least some new information. And do not forget, these characteristics work beter when you combine at least some of them. Don’t forget to kill as many birds as you can with one stone. Happy Triond writing!

thank you. limiting might be a good idea sometimes. But I set a limit- amount of money to make- and I am trying a strategy. Plus,I am overflown with ideas. Better to let them out before finding new ones.

I have been writing on Triond for two years and still haven’t worked out how to increase my views. Maybe it is because I just write poetry. Thank you for this very helpful article.

Valuable tips Zoey. Being SEO smart is very important.

These are all good ideas. I should put more focus on making useful lists. I average 60 hits a day on my personal blog and I’m trying to get it up to 100 hits a day. My niche, flash fiction writing, may be too narrow. So, I’m re-thinking my writing strategy for Triond and my personal blog. These tips are useful. I’ve been aware for a long time of these tips that you point out but it’s aways good to be reminded about what does and does not work.

    * Thanks, Sharif. Exactly. You can’t just write for SEO, but you have to keep in mind.

    * Thanks, Guy. I had found this really good list of freelance writing job sites on Triond but had forgotten to bookmark it. While looking for it, I stumbled on quite a few articles on Triond about how to make money but they all said the same thing. Come on. Unless you just started writing, those tips are very on the surface. I just shared what I learned, what worked for me and why.

@Christine: It is lovely that you share your creative work. Unfortunately most of my creative writing-my fiction- is too long to fit here and I lvoe writing non-fiction as well. So I just want to get the best results while I am having fun.

Thanks for the good tips and ideas. I really love to write fiction and my favorite is short stories in third person without using many names, but they don’t always do well. Now if I write a good non-fiction article they usually do better. As for comments and friends, I love my Triond friends and I think I am a good friend. If after a while a new friend stops reading my work then I remove them as a friend. My time is so limited that I can not continue to read and comment on people that can’t do the same for me.

@deep blue: Thanks. I always find that patience come easy when you love what you do. I am one of the most impatient people ever but with writing, I am so determined. And I will stick it out.

@sloanie: Thanks, Sloanie. I so agree with that phrase. And my pen is very mighty in deed;)

@ PR Mace: You are so right about reading-commenting being mutual. If I comment twice and haven’t heard back, I move on. There are authors out there who will appreciate my time.

I’m same as Christine. I joined Triond since Sept09, only wrote poetry, short stories, jokes/riddles. Frankly, i don’t really know much about how to increase views etc… I am busy and lazy to explore, I guess.
By the way, sometime I miss commenting on yours, but I did view them.. I have no comments on some as I don’t really watch movies and hence no comments. Sometimes I get carried away in my comments to people also, but they are what in my mind at the time I comment. I like Triond because I can write and comment freely.
I like the way you write, they are original.
