It seems today everyone writes about the same topic; for instance social media. Doesn’t sound surprising does it? Well, its not because that topic sells best to readers! I’m guilty of writing about the same topic, but wouldn’t it be great if we all branched out and let our imaginations run wild? We would have so many topics to write about. So, has anyone created anything really different that sets them apart?
How many blogs do you read? Do you write your own? I’m sure you do both of these. Although, what I have noticed with blogs or in general with the topics people write seems to be all the same. The only thing different you can notice from one post to another is it’s the writers interpretation of something, but all in all it the topics don’t change. Is this a bad thing? Have we run out of ideas to talk about?
I don’t think we have run out of topics, but we all are focused in on what people want to read about it. This isn’t a bad thing necessarily, but from time to time it would be nice to see someone talk about something different and branch away from what everyone else is saying. You never know, that might start a chain reaction and we will have a new branch of topics floating around. We have all been guilty with writing posts about the same thing as everyone else just in our own opinion. Take the world of social media for example.
Now, I am one who loves to blog about social media. I do it in my personal blog. Although, most of the people out there are blogging about the same thing I am. I don’t look down upon that at all because it’s what sells to the public and it is the focal point of how we interact on the internet today. So, how else are we suppose to write about anything else? Well that’s the exact reason I am writing this post.
I don’t know if it crossed your mind at all while reading this, but doesn’t it seem like what I am writing about right now many people aren’t doing. Although, there probably is that person blogging about this topic as well. Still, my whole point I am trying to get across here is we all need to be able to branch out when we write even if we love the topic we usually stick to. That’s the whole reason I have decided to write this article. I love blogging about social media and technology, but who doesn’t?
If we let our imaginations run wild and come up with a variety of topics…not just the one’s that sell to the readers the most, we may hit on a new area of interest that becomes the next big thing! Who knows, it could be you that starts this trend! Overall, be yourself and think outside the box. If you do that, your writing can take you anywhere and then you can possibly have a large following. Your posts will be viewed in a manner where people will think, “hmm, I have never seen anything like this before.” At that point, you will feel like you have reached a new level in your writing. This is just my opinion of why I feel we need to branch out with writing. You can think something totally different and that’s fine. I always have thought though that fresh ideas go a long way to reaching an audience.

yeah I guess most of the general topics are alike, but it’s all about personal views and opinions. It’s difficult to stand out.

I used my ehow profile as my url website. You can click on article list from there.. AT any rate, I sometimes think the same thing when reading and commenting on ehow articles. HOWEVER I know there are some really ORIGINAL great topics and content. In the forums one day someone said FINALLY I found something noone else has written on .
Of course she meant on eHow. I agree with you that sometimes it is overwhelming reading the same old same old same old. But sometimes, a golden nugget falls from the 10th version of how to make friends on twitter articles.
I have a few social media but I like to think my article on How to Remove a Gopher from a Swimming Pool, and How to Avoid Bursting into Flames or How to treat a Dog’s Bloody Poop are 100% original. My article on How to Make Money Today, make not be real innovative, and a tired subject but it IS original.
One of my favorite eHow articles by a friend for being clever original was something about watching out for the BLACK WIDOW referring to a woman that is after “your man”.
And I saw a blog post yesterday about writing and having too many ideas. TMIS. There was a great way of visually seeing the problem and focusing on one idea – called the Red Dress. It was new to me. So I appreciated the article.
A lot of food for thought as I continue writing and I am glad you blogged on this subject!

I have noticed the same thing. Especially in the blogging tips -genre. I have read the same list of blogging tips a million times just waiting to get one cool new tip. There are some that do that quite nicely, but of course, they are in the minority and should be. We can’t all be great thinkers and writers.
Branching out can be risky to those bloggers who have set themselves into a specific topic. That’s why I like to explore those “mixed bag” and personal blogs out there. I do like the variety.

The problem, if there is one, is that originality is in the mind of the reader. We are each original works of the universe, and whatever we do, no matter what others do, is original in the sense that we see only what we choose to see in the narrow view we are afforded by our station and location in life. Not to get esoteric, but we are capable of departing from the mainstream and insisting on giving expression to a new viewpoint or to those which have been expressed by
few others. Fear of the disapproval of our fellows, like conscience, makes cowards of us all, as Shakespeare remarked. Give a man a mask to hide behind and he will tell you the truth as Mark Twain said. The Greeks knew this.
I hide behind a mask, but my intent is the same as a court jester, that is, to amuse and entertain while showing you a few truths that you knew all the time.
Originality in one’s blog is to hide in plain sight…or to wear a mask…or to be oneself, as unexamined or unassuming as that may be. Whatever you do WILL be original and a never to be repeated phenomenon. Best wishes. Count Sneaky

I have not really been part of a blog. I don’t have favorites and I guess I don’t have a regular topic I talk about.

I am only really learning about blogging for the last few months but it seems that many people have the same topics because many people share the same interests and not knowing what to say or where to start could be part of the reason for them being all so similar … very nicely written
