Do Not Click Here

It is interesting how naturally curious people are and that when someone says do not, other people rarely listen to it.

Do Not Click Here

Why’d you click this article? The title clearly said not to… I will tell you why: Curiosity. You were drawn to the title. You could not help but click on it to see what was inside. By nature, we all have the tendency to click on a link and do things we are told not to do.

Why did I write this article? What was the point to this? Believe it or not, this was NOT meant to be a pointless or meaningless article. The point of this article was to teach you the power and importance of article titles. Most writers do not take the time to realize how much of an impact their titles have on their readers, viewers, fans and friends. A good title will increase your traffic and page views by a pretty significant amount. This is why it is OK to make people wonder with your title. Vague and mysterious titles are great. They are encouraged even. If your title provokes a question – they will click your article in order to get an answer to their question.

It is important to make sure your title has something to do with your article though. The two should be connected and related in some way. You are not going to get very far with a random and obscure title that makes no sense and has nothing to do with the article at all. In fact, this is just going to anger your viewers and they probably will not like your article very much after that.

If helps if you try to think of a title like the subject line of an email. Think about it. Sometimes the subject line decided whether or not you even open up an email. The subject line also can decide on what email you are prone to opening first.

Your title is your viewers first impression of your article and we all know how important first impressions are. It would be a shame to miss out on a new fan or view because you had a bad or poorly thought out title.

Titles really are powerful and should not be underestimated. The next time you go to write an article, you should try putting a little more time and thought into your title. It really will help you and your view counts in the long run.

I didn’t click on the last article that told me not to. :) I have learned that curiosity didn’t really kill the cat but got it tangled up! LOL. But it’s true that article title attraction is fine as long as it relates to what your article is about. I try to title for someone like me that is looking for something and then find it but sometimes I do get a little abstract but I’m hoping my titles allude to the article correctly. This is a though-provoking article that will make me think about titles differently or try harder to make them mesh….Thanks for sharing!
