Diary Writing: Our First Introduction to Personal Blogging

Diary writing as a kid, is no less than what we do now as grown ups when we jot down our business goals. Although back then our diaries are like friends we could confide in, the act of writing per se is an all important aspect on how we can tackle our past and future aspirations.

Diary writing as a kid, is no less than what we do now as grown ups when we jot down our business goals. Although back then our diaries are like friends we could confide in, the act of writing per se is an all important aspect on how we can tackle our past and future aspirations.

Hence, if in the business world we are told that one effective way to carry out our plan is to write everything down, the task is not at all unfamiliar to us. As kids, especially among girls, the act of journalizing meant pouring their hearts out through diary writing. There is one important difference though between diary writing and writing down our business records and achievements. Diaries were always kept as a secret; hence, this is where the similarity ends.

Back then, the innovation of providing a key and latch for diaries became an all important necessity. We can’t have our moms or our siblings peaking in and learn what we did just the other day. Every little detail of a diary writing is personal hence, the need to be secretive about it. However, if you are to look back at it now, you won’t find anything there that required utmost secrecy.

The development trends in technology slowly took us away from this diary writing activity. Walkmans and portable cassette recorders came and diary writing was all too soon forgotten. Almost everyone found these electronic gadgets more convenient. We did our monologues talking to our tape recorders instead. This was a lot easier because it even allowed you to practice your manner of speaking. We could simply rewind it and analyze our thoughts again as if the tape recorder was the one talking to us. Diary writing was way too far off from the benefits of using a recorder.

However, cassette tapes could be accidentally deleted. If this happens we could never have the pleasure of reminiscing back at a certain time in our youth when we had been daring. Could we still recall how we felt the first tingling sensation of a youthful romance? Whereas if we had some of those moments written down during our diary writing days, we could reflect in contentment on how we lived our childhood and adolescent years without any regret.

If you took off from diary writing into cassette recording your thoughts, then you must know by now that there are hardly any machines left which we can use to play them back. What could frustrate you even more is that even if you can find a cassette tape player, the cassette tapes won’t work because the molds have set in.

Now you can be more high-tech with your diary writing by using your PCs, laptops and electronic notebooks. For sure, computers are here to stay because most of our day to day activities now hinge on computers. You don’t have to worry about keeping your diary safe because you can have passwords to keep them secretly logged.

In fact, diary writing in this modern day and age can even go paperless, since we can make use of memory cards and flash drives to store them in. Today you can even make it public by going online and publishing them; your random thoughts will now be called blogging.
