Develop Your Imagination

Gives a general understanding about the lines on which imagination skills develop.

If you are a budding or even an aspirant writer, it is imperative that you have the ability to imagine creatively! Writing is an art and like every art form, it involves imagination. In fact, all the works of fiction would not exist if humans didn’t have the power of visualization.

Although, most people would believe that the ability to picture things in mind with ease may be a genetic case, it is not so. Just as you would have to spend hundreds of hours to learn a musical instrument, so is the case with imagination. However, the latter is more of an innate ability and is only waiting to be triggered.

For example, even if you don’t have the habit of relaxing in your recliner and let your imagination run wild, you could spend a few minutes and still surprise yourself with the results. Just, because we don’t practice it often (in the creative sense) doesn’t not mean we have no aptitude for it.

To begin with, I would like to mention that the biggest decisive factor between you and your visualization skills is your observation habit. Some people are gifted at the art of observation and do so effortlessly, but most people don’t give it much consideration. Notably, everything that you bring to your consciousness becomes permanently impressed on your subconscious mind. Hence, you would also have a permanent memory of it. So, the more things you bring to your notice, the more topics you find to think upon. The more richer becomes, your outlook and judgement.

Now, the second step in attaining a more enhanced imgination skill, you shift the dimensions of viewing a particular idea. For instance, there is nothing creative about thinking about a bus moving on the street. There is a bit of creativity if it is moving through sand dunes, or desert. To a greater extent if it is floating on the surface of water. Even higher if it is flying in the air and highest, if it is making its way by piercing through the crust of the earth to reach the core.

Always remember, the more bizarre you get, the more creative you become. At this point I would like to bring to your notice, that this is exactly how humor is formed. When you shift your perspective, you create an abnormality, which when used smartly can produce a piece of creation.

I think the guidelines mentioned above should get your mind shifting gears and taking you closer to your treasure chest of absolute creativity. A non creative human is yet to take birth on this planet!

So submerge into the depths of this splendid ability of your own mind to explore, the most deeply hidden wonders and beauty that imagination can bring.
