Ideas to get rid of writers block.
Can’t write a single word?
Are the characters shallow? Two dimensional?
Is your story boring?
Would the trash reject your book at this point?
Here are some reasons writers may get blocked and some ideas to cure it:
Not enough ideas: Take a notebook with you on a walk, to the mall or park. Write what you see, who you see, how you see it.
Too many ideas: Write an outline of your story and cut the excess.
Bored with your story: Shelf it. Literally. Put it away and leave it for a day, month or year. When you come back you should be able to see it with fresh eyes.
You’ve revised the same chapters over and over again: Same advise as above.
You’re afraid you stink: Every writer feels this way sometimes. And not everyone likes every story. We all have different tastes and ideas. Write what is dear to you, important for you to send out to the world.
You’re bored:
THEN! Reward yourself! Writing is work. So get to work.
