Create Mind-Blowing Content

Writing is one of the most important ways people communicate. The pen is mightier than the sword, but only if you know how to use it.

Writing is everywhere. Writing jumps at you anywhere you turn, so how do you create content that will stand out from all this other writing? Writing has the power to smack, fondle, and tickle one’s brain into submission. So how do you do this?

Connotation.

In order to create content that blows minds, you first must learn to use connotation. Connotation is the feelings that a word is associated with. Yes, words have feeling too. For example; “I’m going home!” or “I’m going to my abode!” Obviously you want to go home, rather than your abode. Plenty of connotation can be found in the news which talks about terrorists, raving politicians and vast conspiracies. These words hold tremendous power for people everywhere. However, a writer must be careful because some words have connotation without its effects being widespread. If I used an analogy to describe something as good as Grandma’s cookies, this might not work because your Grandma’s cookies might taste ghastly. You must also be aware of words that have a general connotation such as love. Love is powerful, but difficult to describe and very general. To create mind blowing content, first write your content. Then go back through what has been written, and find powerful words to replace it. If one holds meaning, a regular sentence can blow minds. This is how you make your content stand out. Beautiful language sways minds. Can you feel the power?

This was very good advice. The words we use do convey vastly different ideas to readers and that is why a good Thesaurus is useful to get the word the says exactly what you want to say. To use the common, everyday, trite expressions is not going to make a good impression, especially if one hopes to be published.
