Content Writing: The Workstation is Our Friend

We are documenting the world.

It is almost noon in Pittsburgh on a day that will be partially sunny with the temperatures in the 80s and the possibility of thundershowers.  Is being a content writer great or what?

I can’t wait to get up in the morning to turn on the computer and to check my blog, my Facebook and Twitter accounts, skim an online newspaper and then check my Triond account.  That’s because I’m an online content writer.

Since I’m retired, a bachelor with no children, my life focus is a computer that I took out of a box and put together with my own hands and that I sat on top of a workstation that I assembled with my own hands.  Believe me, the only thing that I’m really good at putting together is a flash fiction story.  Actually, the first time I turned on the computer and it actually worked I felt like dropping to my knees and giving thanks.

So, now several years after setting my computer up I find that I am an online writer, a content writer.

I sit at my workstation, usually with the radio tuned to the 24/7 news station; because as a content writer I got to keep informed.  And although much of what is in the news never finds its way into my content writing, what is in the news can give me ideas that can be used to inform my online writing.

One year I actually got a much bigger tax refund than usual because I claimed to be self employed and worked out of my apartment and I was able to deduct my computer, paper, pens, pencils, paper clips, just all kinds of things because I was an online writer.

That was when it hit me that what we content writers do is real.

Here’s some flash fiction for your reading entertainment: Lesbian Lust.
