Just a little about my thoughts on Triond and all the great people I have met over the last eight months.
I adore the community spirit here on Triond. I am not sure what makes us all jell with one another so well… well that’s not entirely true, I think our passion for writing and making new friends has a lot to do with it.

There are lots of very talented poets, storywriters and authors, from all over the globe that bring us some fascinating articles about the latest news or the latest new inventions. One very brilliant writer knows all there is to know about blogging, another knows all there is to know about aviation, another is spot on with her Australian point of view, another with their health articles. Many quiet in voice poets that speak loudly through their words. Many, many, that make me laugh and many that make me sit up and listen.
I do write on a few other writing sites and although they are great too in their own way, I just don’t feel the spirit that I get from Triond. That’s why I keep coming back. There have been many old friends that have left Triond for one reason or another but new people have replaced them and it’s these newbie’s that I love to help.
Remember when you were first on Triond and you slogged your heart out writing some great poems? But because you hadn’t built up a fan base a lot of these first articles got unnoticed. Well I think it would be a great idea if once in a while we took the time to look back at each other’s earlier work and see what we all have to offer. See how much we have improved and grown in confidence. Especially if someone hasn’t had chance to publish anything for a while. We can all learn different styles and writing techniques. The great thing about writing is that you have never finished, never quite learnt it all. There is always a chance to grow and expand, no matter how old you are.

You may find that although you always write poems, an article takes your fancy and you would like to try one yourself or you may always write articles and have seen some fantastic flash fiction that deep down inside you know you can do too.
Really this article is about learning from each other, because each and every one of us has something very special to offer. No one is the superior. Yes some may have bucket loads of experience but we all have room to change and develop.
Just a little article to ponder over and for me to tell you all that I really look forward to sapping all your knowledge, deep into my brain!

I share all of these feelings about the Triond community. I would never have continued writing without it’s constant support. A very thoughtful article. I also like the idea of reading earlier posts. Well done.

We all have much to learn from one another. I thank my Triond friends for their help and support over the past 11 months. I do have a friend or two that have gone back and read some of my early posts. I’m going to try to do the same for them and others.

MissL…this is a wonderful piece on reflecting on who were are as a collective of writers and from whence we have all come…I am so grateful to you for personally inviting me to follow and join you here…Thank you…yes we have made friends in the past some of those friendships have grown, some of our friends have moved on to other pastures, some greener maybe, for whatever reason, and while we miss them, there are always new friends to meet and to encourage and possibly even mentor. But again, I am very thankful that you are a friend to me who led me here and I’m grateful for the friendship that has and is being forged with you and some others…THANK YOU

I have written for a few sites online under various aliases .. but this is the only writing community where I have made good friends, not just ‘friends’ .. and I can write about whatever I want
I will always support you and read your work Lillyrose .. as well as treasure your friendship

That is why I like Triond. No much restriction in writing and the community is great, when we comment, though at times may not help in improving the writing at all, but definitely give the moral support to the writers. We are actually not so particular about how people write. When we comment, we are communicating with the writers and from there we build rapport with one another.

lillyrose may i just say what a wonderful article that was… been on it for 5 months & have loved finding myself, and believe you me my writing has improved too. But i needed the the support from others & have made some wonderful friends along the way. Great idea about revisiting old poems though as I was looking at ways of refreshing some of them.
cheers Pete

I think you speak for many of us. I know you speak for me.

You are spot on. I love going through old articles. For instance, I commented on all your current ones and I want to read more of your work and it is always fun to realize your old work gets noticed too. So, bingo:)
And I do love the community here too. Bukisa, especially, is horrible at this. Well, it is getting better but it is nowhere close to Triond in this area.

Lillyrose .. I’m posting the following comment on Oldster’s behalf as he’s having trouble downloading this article:
“You are very adept at exploiting and manipulating that small part of your reader to make them come back again and again Lilly. Their ego of course.
Well done. Be well.” ~ Oldster.

I think the presence of people like you on this forum Lily, is what makes me to come back as well…:)

Triond has been a trip, I agree. I believe it’s an addiction. My computer has not been up to par this week and it has me irritated. I can’t return everyone’s comments and I cant get any pictures on my submissions. It’s driving me up the wall.

May 10th, 2010 at 10:11 am

Back reading was suggested and done in the past, but then the new ones come and time runs out. sometimes I read and click the I like it for those I read for without commenting because of time constraints.. Just know I will be reading your posts as often as I can. the triond community is what keeps me here year after year. You are so right that I agree. It is like family and I have written about that feeling more than once in poems to
