Writing for money is tough. Writing for a living is even worse. The competition is intense.
Writing is a hobby for some people. For some people it’s a way of life. It’s a business. It’s how they make a living. Writing can be called a science and an art. It’s an art because you must feel what you do and there are no exact rules about being a writer. And it’s a science too because it’s already scientifically proved that some styles or writing will attract more readers than other types plus you have laws to obey and some mathematical rules to follow such as word limit.
The first challenge you must embrace while you are a writer is the fear factor. You fear that your text or article will be rejected. You fear that people will not like you, you fear you will get ugly feedback, you fear that people will laugh at you, you feel you will be fired. Get rid of that fear. No article will be perfect, you will not always be accepted, and like Lincoln used to say “if I were to read much less to answer all the attacks that are being made on me, this store would be closed for any other business. I do the very best I know and the very best I can and I intend to continue to do it so. If it shows to be right, then what they said will make no difference, if it proves wrong then ten angels swearing I was right would make no difference”. This was quoted from memory but the meaning remains the same. Just write and publish, leave the ego and the worries to another life.
Who do you write for has great influence on you too. Some companies will make money with your content and pay you nothing, like most article directories. Others however will share a nice amount of their profits with you. Keep looking until you find the one that suits you best. Some companies will hire you as long as you publish X amount of articles per day or week. Just keep on searching.
The secret to write well is just write. You cannot learn to swim out of the pool and you cannot learn how to write just reading this. Write something about anything. Later you will look back and laugh about how bad you were and be amazed with the improvement you made. While you are writing, your brain is making new connections and new neurons too to help you in this job. The brain never stops adapting itself to new jobs. As long as you keep writing the brain will keep adapting itself to this new lifestyle.
Before you notice you are already writing faster than ever.
If your content does not get the visitors you wish, remember there are less than 500 million English users for Billions of sites written in English in the entire web.
You are lucky just to get more than one visitor, because on average each site (each site, not each article) will get just one single visitor!
