A good topic but I was expecting the article to answer the question, which it hasn\\\’t…Personally, I think a piece of writing is deemed as \\\”good\\\” by how well the author is able to connect with the reader through their use of words. Most of all, it needs to be easily understood. The more readers he/she is able to reach, the better the content will be rated. Therefore, I think the overall rating is subjective to the reader.

I think there is no any yardstick for a good writing; but writing that is interesting, that is informative, that is trendy, that makes you sleepless, that makes you heartily laugh, that has a good style, that has been written lucidly, in my view, is good writing. Thanks for sharing.

Good writing depends on the intention of the piece, and whether or not it achieves its intention. For example: this article states as its intention that it will tell the reader how to recognize good writing. However, the body of the article does not deliver the content that the article’s title advertises. Therefore, I would not say that this is a piece of good writing. A good article delivers information, a good opinion piece delivers a provocative opinion, a good poem invokes emotion, a good novel tells a provocative story. Different mediums require different writing styles and different writing tactics.

I AGREE WITH THE WRITER THAT SOMETIMES A WRITING IS GOOD EVEN IF THE GRAMMAR IS INCORRECT, ESPECIALLY IF IT HAS BEEN WRITTEN INTENTIONALLY, LIKE PURPLE RAIN.

Good writing delivers on a promise; nothing is more disappointing to me than being enticed by a great title, only to find the content lacking substance.

Good writing connects to and satisfies the reader. When the intention of the writer gets through, then the writing is good. It helps a lot if the piece is grammatically correct — this is a basic tenet.
Thanks for sharing this nice article. :)

Yes, it’s true. In addition, good writing comes from the heart. Also, if the writer is an expert in the topic being written about, it can make him a good writer basing from first-hand experience.

Thank you for this write up.

Totally agree….especially in my case. Have major grammar issues but can articulate my writing fairly well. I like this one. Gives creedence to writers that are not completely grammatically correct. Thanks

Interesting article. Requires a little bit of editing you missed the “d” in “and” above. But otherwise, a nice expression of your thoughts on good writing.
