We complain about this writing site but, can you imagine your life without it?
A recent article published by another writer for this site pointed out that Triond is a publishing and content site. While this is true it also serves one other important function. It is the first site many new writers can get published on. Once published Triond becomes a site where we learn new writing skills, gain advice and suggestions from our peers, grow and move on.
Many writers who move on leave Triond completely others remain out of loyalty, friendship, or simply the advantage of being able to publish whatever they want. They still move on. Some move on to other publishing sites that set higher writing standards and therefore gives a writer higher cash rewards. Others move on to writing for off line sites or publishing their own books. But, sooner or later in one way or another we all move on.
Regardless of your reasons for moving on most of us will always have fond memories of this site simply because it gave us the means to learn about our art and to gain important skills. For some it is a first opportunity to connect with other writers who share their love of writing. For a few, this will be the only site they ever publish on as they will either be content to keep writing as hobby and not really care about the income aspect or they will discover that writing in far harder than they could ever imagine.
Most of us have complained at one time or other about Triond’s low pay scale, the fact that the site isn’t taken very seriously by the entire online writing community, and the low views for our articles despite our efforts to promote them. But ask yourself this: What would life be like without Triond?
Each one of us has to answer that question for ourselves. For me I honestly feel that Triond has changed my life. My first paid article was published here and although that article has only made about $.30 it was enough to make me feel that with hard work and determination I could write articles people wanted to read and even earn money doing it.
Without Triond I doubt if I would not have met other writers who helped get me started on sites where my articles got more more views and the income was greater. Without Triond I would not have been nearly as successful once I joined those sites. Without Triond I would still be working a nine to five job outside my home and would probably never have realized my dream of making a career from my writing.
For many of us Triond is the first of many small steps towards a successful writing careers, for others it is a platform where their voice can be heard, and for still others it simply an opportunity to see if they have the talent, ability and determination it takes to become the writer they want to be.
We may complain and grouse about the site but, for most of us we can’t imagine our lives without Triond.

I agree on this. Personally I do feel like moving on elsewhere later, but I am still figuring out where. So far I do love writing here, but the payment will never pay the bills indeed.

I know I am heading somewhere in the nearest future. My experience with Triond is very educative and interesting.
Thanks for sharing.

I would move on to other sites, but I would miss the friends I have made here. Your friends help make up for the low pay.

I do like triond. I have good friends here and triond pays right on time. I sometimes have complaints but nothing is perfect. I intend to be here for awhile longer than the 3 years I have been here.

Great article! I cannot think about not having a Triond. I have thought about leaving in the past but since they offer Google Ads, I will never leave. Triond is a great place for writers that are just starting out because they are not as strict as most writing sites. Well done and thanks for sharing!

Helium was the first site I tried and they paid me a number of times but twice they were late paying me and then paid with a debit or credit card and PayPal charged me a fee for that.
The one thing I will say for Triond is that they have paid me on time every single time every single month I’ve been here for over 3 years now. And with no PayPal fees.

You have expressed this well. Likewise, I received the confidence to move on after being here a short time. But, without the Triond support I wonder if I’d have taken that step. Yes, we all grouch from time to time. I try to use mine to air my frustrations. I love the feedback and support. I love the variety of articles. And recently, I’ve loved that Triond friends have made contact with me on Factoidz. I’ve abandoned Suite 101 but I won’t be abandoning Triond.

Beautifully put! I agree! Friends like you make all the difference.

I was addicted to an online Internet game Earth 2025 before I found Triond.. so really I just switched addictions.
If people want to complain about Triond, they really need to complain TO Triond.

I moved on and now I’m back. I moved on because I have to make money at writing to supplement my social security check and because I didn’t go back to school to get my MFA in writing in 2006 not to make money by writing. I’m sure there are writers that are making hundreds of dollars a month on Triond but I don’t think I’ll ever be one of them. So now I plan to publish once a week on Triond because I do enjoy being part of a community of writers.

Nicely put. I write in Triond for many purposes and it serves me right to be writing on any topic under the sun. I never thought I could write and see people respond to my writings. Having other read my work and gain from it is a rewarding experience. Besides, what are words for if they don’t have any meaning. Triond allows us to express our minds all over the globe.

Great article. You expressed exactly why I am also addicted to Trioind – it is more than a publishing site – it is a community. It is not the site itself, or the Triond employees that make it special, it is the writers. I have felt at home here.

I love Triond and my Triond friendships. This was the first place I ever saw something I had written published. I remember I cried. I think the best part are the friendships we have all made here. I feel I have another family all over the world.
