My musings.
I wanted to blog today about writing and the wonder that is Twitter. I am a new user, and have ‘met’ so many talented, quirky, funny and generally nice writers, both unpublished and published. They have given me a much needed network of friends, and a shot in the arm for my busy life and lofty career goals.
I have entered competitions for writing, guest blogged, started book reviewing and generally brought out the Big Balls. This term is basically where you stop procastinating, worrying and stressing about your workload, strap on a pair and get on with being confident enough to follow your dreams. I have had a couple of little bits published, only fillers but still a start, and had 3 cheques for £25 from Prima magazine. That Cornish retirement home on the beach is that little bit closer…well nearly, but I now have more confidence, feel less isolated and alone as a SAHM and am now flying ahead with my writing. Doing that little bit everyday really does make a difference.
I am now a school governor and attended my first meeting recently. I loved the meeting, so much experience to be gained into school and teaching life, and I like thinking I make a difference in some small way. It’s nice to step away from ‘mummy’ and be an actual person with intelligence and opinions for a while, especially in a subject I am more passionate about than Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
My degree course has started again, and although it’s draining and time consuming, I know I have to succeed because one day, I KNOW I will be a primary school teacher, one who will entertain her children, teach them well and make them love reading as much as I do.
If I ever finish my book, I will self publish it, and hey, if one person buys it and reads it other than someone in my family, then my dreams will be fulfilled.
In the meantime, seeing my name in print in little bits in mags and blogs will do nicely.
The Big Balls are out, proud and ready to make their dent in the world!!
My son starts school nursery on his own for the first time tomorrow, I am devastated, but hey, it’s the start of his educational foray within school, and I shall be there for him, and his younger brother, every step of the way…the big balls will be passed on when required. I love my kids, everything else in life besides family is just frosting on a cake. Enjoy xx
