Books and research in time and of course writing.
I have always had an attraction to books and reading. The thrill of marveling at a library and all it contains. I can always recall the times I would research law books in the local library back then in the early days. learning the words that would describe a homicide in the legal terms. How many times would I use the confines and peace of a room full of books back then and now in the present. There was a tip that I was given about a company who would deliver films to your local library and you picked them up and dropped them off from there. At that time I was researching psychology and the many individuals of that science. I nearly talked my way into Doctors gatherings where exclusive films were to be viewed to Psychologists/Psychiatrists.
It was through my teenage years that writing was displayed as an important part of my life. I would attract teachers comments quite accidentally at first with my need for big words. They did not belong there as i didn’t know their true meaning. I was pulled aside and spoken to, my teacher explained I did not need to use these words but write simply, some of the best writers in the world were simple writers. I took that and ran with it and saw great improvement with one or two pieces in class where my work was read out in class which made me proud as the teacher read it out and placed it on my desk when she finished. After leaving school I sought out English writing courses where I could. The writing was always part of me for as long as I know if I leave I return in some form. A friend wrote songs and music and I was involved and I involved him in my writing course. We returned to school as well and yes English expression and literature were there before University. We challenged in Arts and Science. It never leaves you as we went into a writing business together trying to help other writers find their way.
