Blogging and Black Pantyhose

So far this month, the Pittsburgh Flash Fiction Gazette has gotten 16, 625 hits.

Hello, bloggers everywhere.  It’s the Old Soldier with another report from the blogging front.  No, I will not be talking about Twitter.  But I will be talking about social media.  Blogging is very much a part of social media and online marketing.  I know some of you have blogs.

I use my blog mainly to send traffic to my Triond content.

Recently, the blog took off after I started adding photos of female nude celebrities to some of the post.  That was really a painful lesson for me to learn about blogging, about catching the attention of the public.  My blog is a niche blog.  It is about flash fiction and writing flash fiction.  I have a MFA in writing.  But before I added the photos, the blog seldom got 100 hits a day.  After I added the photos, well, the blog has gotten over 16,000 hits so far this month.  The lesson was very humbling; but, more people are clicking on the links to Triond than ever before.  The following is a list of the titles that are on the front page as I write this.  The above photo is some of my old amateur work shot with a disposable camera.  It is one of the more tame photos on the blog.  It gets a lot of hits.
