Do you write about what subject you want to write about or do write on subjects that gain you the most views?

Do you write about what you want to write about? Or are you writing articles that give you the chance to get your view count up? A tough subject for some, but in these tough times of finance can we only afford to write about what’s popular?
As a writer, the subject choice is huge. From horse racing and cricket, to building and engineering, we can write about almost anything. Many writers on Triond choose to write about what they enjoy, and fair enough! Writing about what you feel like gives you a way to express your opinion and bring out your creative side. Personally, I choose to write about sports and writing, simply because I’m a obsessed sports fan and currently developed a enjoyment for the freelance writing business. In many situations, especially with my rugby articles, my view count has suffered. Maybe because of the limited interest on the network, I don’t know. In the end i don’t write the articles because of the views, I write because of the enjoyment and maybe a willing sports editor might read it one day and like it.
Many writers follow the trends to gain better views, which can eventually boost their income. Yes, it has its advantages, you can earn more and get better exposure but does it really make you enjoy your writing? For many it does, if your writing is popular and structure is correct, the editor will want more work from you. Some writers use websites such as Google trends which show you the most popular searches on the Internet, giving you money making articles to produce. Financially, following the trends can boost your income, and in these tough financial times it can sometimes be the only way to go.

Overall, writing can be used for many different things. It can be used for enjoyment, creativity, expressing your opinion and to boost your income. Both options have their advantages and disadvantages. What do you spend most of your time writing about? Writing about what you want or for the views? It would be interesting to find out.

Hmm..I began writing for Triond in February of this year…I wrote about anything and everything..but I don’t think my heart was really in it. I pulled all my content several months ago and wrote articles for other sites. I came back to Triond to continue writing a series “Gangland Australia” – a friend of mine had started it but for work-related reasons could not finish it – it’s doing quite well and I’m happy to keep going with it. I think that break did me a world of good..I now write what I want to write..I really don’t care about the no. of views. I do want to produce articles that I think will appeal to the masses..but at the end of the day..I’m doing what I love and I’m writing because my heart is definitely into it

I write about what I know. What I know is writing and blogging. Luckily for me, there are a lot of writers and bloggers out there.
