At the beginning of the month, I started an experiment to see which writing site made the most money. At this writing with just a few days to go four of these sites are running neck and neck. Although I shouldn’t care, in my heart of hearts, I am hoping Triond comes in ahead of the others.
At the beginning of this month I began an experiment. Since I write for 6 sites, two of them new this month, I wanted to see which sites earned the most income, and how that income was earned, since different sites, offer different options for me to make money. Some like Ehow and Triond are simply pay per view sites. Factoidz and Bukisa offers pay per views plus referrals, Associated Content and Helium offer in addition to the pay per views upfront payments and contests, although the contests are vastly different.
Helium also offers writers a chance to make money through referrals, marketplace, and bonuses for writing to empty titles.
I was really interested in seeing how this all played out in terms of making money and how my new writing sites compared with those I am somewhat established on. I have tried to write one article for each site daily, though I have not always accomplished that feat.
While I can’t really say what the results will be until I have all the information and have a chance to compile some comparisons I wanted to share with you some surprises that have occurred that have occurred. Things I did not anticipate.
First, I am happy to note and share, that my Triond earnings are steadily climbing, If I continue to earn at the current rate this will be my biggest pay period yet.
What is really surprising though is that many of my views are coming from old articles that I have written months ago. Perhaps a third of all my views, though I have not actually added them up as yet.
Which proves that passive income is not only possible on this site, but may well be a big part of our yearly revenue.
Second, I was surprised to note that as of this morning, although Helium is my income leader, which was no great surprise. Triond, Associated content, Factoidz, and Ehow are all running neck and neck for second. Only a few cents separates one from the other. Bukisa, as expected is running last, though I must note, my income on that site has almost doubled this month.
I used all the same methods to generate views on most of the sites. I have made two huge exceptions. On Bukisa, I have actively sought to build a community, though that has been somewhat dampened the last few days by trouble in publishing my articles. I am happy to note that has now been resolved.
Associated content is the other site that I made an exception. My views were so poor on that site, that I resorted to begging all my friends and relatives to read my articles, and actively sought to follow other members in the hope that they would return the favor. This has brought an increase in views and hopefully, I can build on it from there.
The next few days, should be interesting waiting to see where my income on each site ends up, to be honest in my heart of hearts I am hoping that Triond scores second place. Regardless, this site will remain my first love.

This is a great idea!!
I would be very interested in the results – also the amounts (for comparison – perhaps by “message”). Data like this helps decision making when it comes to writing.
Great write, thanks

It is interesting to hear your views. From what you say I think I will stick with just Triond. Nice work.

What a race, I must say I hope Triond wins. As I have said before I wish I had more time for writing. I told my husband this morning I feel I have my fingers in too many pots but what do I give up. I have to work as a nurse, I love ballroom dancing and I love to write. I guess I will just keep doing what I can do and see what happens.

Really interesting Martie and will be fun to hear how the earnings from the different sites come in!

This is all very interesting. I’ve decided to focus totally on Triond for the reasons that you mention. Every month my Triond income is at least %20 greater than the month before. My first month was only 64 cents. But if my monthly fee does continue to increase by at least %20, do you see the long term financial implications?
So, I’ll just stay with Triond.
