The things You should know if there is a poet in your life.
Not in a bad way Its just that poets see the world in such a way that is often times confusing to non-poets. I mean a tree, is just a tree right, not to a poet.
A poet can read something that was written by a complete stranger and find something so beautiful, or something so heart wrenching that they can not help to cry.
The writing of a poem is akin to bearing your soul in a public forum, once spoken it can’t be rescinded. Poets work at what they write, it is NOT a hobby, or fad, or cute faze.
A poet will spend hours with there head buried in a book or gazing at a computer screen. How better to learn your craft then through reading others poets works.
Often this is mistaken for rudeness, or lack of attention. It should be known that when a poet gets an inspiration they almost always have to write about it then and there.
Good or bad, poets want to here what you think. If you love it or hate it tell them, and tell them why.
Generally speaking a poet rarely gets rich from writing poetry. Most write for the sheer joy of it, God bless them . If your waiting for a poet to be rich from writing you should have a lot of time and superior patience. A good paying job would help too.
It’s true. Poets spend most of there lives finding the beauty and romance in everything, so those who are lucky enough to have a poet as their love are treated to love making unparalleled by most mere mortals.
Why would you say big crack, when you could say expansive crevasse. Poets love to flourish embellishments on the most mundane of things and therefore lift them to a place of greatness.
When a person writes poetry and feels the release of emotion this brings, it becomes almost addictive. A poet will think in ways that set them apart. they may not touch pen to paper in years, but inside they are writing poems. Someday if we are lucky the poets will rule the world, and what a beautiful loving peaceful world that would be.

This was entertaining and fun. I am surrounded by poets and this rings true for all of them. Although, I might replace “Intense” with “Distracted”… they always seem to be deep in thought and not always paying attention to the conversations going on around them.

I enjoyed the read, but I got a bit distracted by some grammar problems in your work.
Other than that, I think your points are very valid and expressed well.

nice list. A little thing about #9. It’s not just the big words. Poets love all sorts of words –even the gibberish they make up. They obsess over using the most appropriate word, no matter how big or simple it is.

What a great tribute to poets! One of my favorite lines that you wrote is, “Poets love to flourish embellishments on the most mundane of things and therefore lift them to a place of greatness.”

If my mouth is not moving it’s because my mind is already occupied.
