Exhausted with topics for writing? This list shows ten more places to find topics to write about, a continued listing of the first ten in August 2010.
By the end of August 2010, I wrote an article, Where to Get Topics for Writing? Ten suggestions were given at that time. Four months later, I find more places to get topics for writing. Here is the additional list.
(Doraemon Skin from Google)
1. Write an ending for an unfinished story
Many authors can manage to write their story until the end. However, there are some authors who failed to do so due to whatever reasons. The lack of an official ending provides other writers an opportunity to use their creativity. For example, any endings of Doraemon are fan fiction. An important reminder is to secure the permission of the original creator. There may not be any financial benefits for the writing, but you may get famous and your writing talent may be appreciated by some publishers.
2. Write a sequel for an existing story
Again, using Doraemon as an illustration, the author, Fujiko F. died in 1996. Even so, there were many movies released. The latest one will be released in the March of 2011. There must be some talent writers writing the scripts. Have a good plot in your mind? Then, why not write it out and try selling to the film company? If the story is rejected, you can still edit it to a brand new story of your own and find other ways to publish it.
3. Photos
A photo record a moment in life that deserved to be memorized. There is always a story behind. People can write about the memory directly or get inspiration from it for your creative writing. Other similar alternatives are postcards and bookmarks.
4. Eating and drinking
We all eat and drink every day. Sometimes, we cook for ourselves, other times we dine outside. Sometimes, we eat alone. Whereas, there are times we eat together in a gathering, a banquet, or on a plane. There are so many topics for writing if you are willing to explore and bother write about them.
5. Job experience
Many people soon or later will take up a job to earn their livings. There are so many different job opportunities in the markets. If you have any job experience, no matter it is a success or failure, you can share it by writing to benefit the college freshmen, existing employers and employees.
6. Domestic matters
The longest hours most people spent are at home and at work. Living alone or with family members, things happened. Happy or sad, peace or in conflict, old way or new way to do housework, there are always interesting topics to write about.
7. User experience
You may be using a lot of advanced equipment. For example, head phone, iPod, iPhone, iPad, watch, digital camera, computer and a lot more. You can write about how you come up with a particular brand, whether the items work well or not, underrated or overrated by the market reviews.
8. Nature
If you feel exhausted with finding topics for writing, relax yourself by having a walk at the countryside. Take a look at the trees, flowers, butterflies, rocks and you will find a lot of topics from the nature.
9. Interview someone
Is there anyone you are interested in knowing them more? Maybe that person is your favorite celebrity, your professor, or even your dad and mom. Arrange an interview with them. Write about the experience, the interesting questions and answers.
10. Culture
Different countries, companies have different cultures. Sometimes, one’s culture has some unique aspects that are worthy of doing research and writing about them.
I wrote total 20 places to get topics for writing. Trust there are still some places untouched. If there is any new discovery, I will share with you all. Four months after writing the first ten points, hope my writing improves and you will find this article helpful. Thanks for reading.
