A lot of you have been asking me how I got my book, Poetry For a New Era published.
I went to createspace.com. It is free to sign up. They help you pick out the cover. They have a wide variety of covers to choose from. They help you design the layout, including writing a small bio and uploading a picture of yourself, which goes on the back of the book. You need Acrobat to transfer your document to a PDF file so you can upload your work. It has to be an even number of pages. My book is 68 pages long.
It is a full color cover with your title, subtitle and name on it. Then, they review the book to decide if it is fit for publication. After that, you order a proof copy, for as little as 2.26 and you receive a copy to go over to decide if you are satisfied or you want to make any changes. If you are satisfied, you mark the proof as ready for publication. It is all free, except for the proof order.
Then, it takes about four to five days until your book appears on amazon.com for sale. You set the price. Amazon, of course, takes a cut. When your book first appears, there is no image of the book until you sell one, then the book cover appears on the sight. I set my price low, 6.95, because I figured it would sell better and I know people are in a money crunch right now. I have already sold six copies in just the last few days. You receive the royalties from your book at the end of the month from createspace. You can decide if you want direct deposit or a check or however you want to receive your money. I hopr many of you will buy mine of course. If you get one published, let me know and I will buy yours.
The best part is actually publishing your own book. This has been my life’s dream for many years and I was dancing on the ceiling when it happened. It was so easy. I have enough material for a second book which I will publish later on this year. If you have any questions, or need help, just aske and I will be more than happy to help you. Thanks, everyone, for being an inspiration to me. Triond is the best!

Again, congrats! That sounds like a pretty cool idea. I’ve been working on my own book at lula.com, but the site you went through sounds nice too. This is very inspirational! Maybe I’ll finally go finish mine! Thanks a bunch for sharing (:

Tks for the tip Will – I have a book published as well with PublishAmerica.com The only thing I paid for was the copyright.(very cheap) Maybe I’ll try this one on for size with my poems not in the book already published.
The book is called “Memories of a Journey Through Time – Poetry from the Heart” if anyone cares to look me up on PA.com or amazon and many other book selling sites.

I have seen where you have read my writings and have said such nice things about them. I am going to look up your book and buy a copy. This information is like gold to me, I have searched for years to get a publisher that would publish my poems without having to pay out an arm and leg. Thank You so much.
