My Journey as an Author

Self-publishing your own work often speeds things up in terms of getting your work out into the big wide world, but it doesn’t make the whole process of creating the finished work any easier.

For one thing I often have hundreds of ideas at one time, which means I’ve usually working on three different things at once. Which can make it a little annoying to focus but its my own fault. 

The worse thing about being a self publisher is, unless you have money to spare you are in charge of editing your work. This is my weakest point but hopefully I’m getting better at it, if they have time I usually have some friends look it over so I can make sure its as perfect as possible. A lot of the time rewrites have to be done, sometimes more than once.

Cover design, this part I love as I am a photographer but it can be a hassle for other people. Usually it takes me a couple of seconds to have a pretty good idea what I want for the artwork. Then its a matter of getting it just right. I’’m more of a perfectionist when it comes to photography than writing.

Promoting I don’t mind as the book its not going to promote itself. Sometimes I even enjoy it as long as I don’t feel like i’m spamming places too much.
