How to Beat Your Competition: New Freelance Writers

If you have recently started work as a freelance writer you’ll know how tough it is to compete against other writers who have far more experience than you. Here are tips to follow to increase your earnings and get ahead of the competition.

  • Using sites like Triond, Helium and Hubpages allows you to gain some writing experience and a chance to get feedback from other writers. Look at the work and style of writing from your fellow writers and pick up hints, tips and advice from them.
  • Devote as much time as you can on marketing. This is the best way to get known. Create a website or blog dedicated to displaying your work, skills and talent and what you can offer clients that your competitors cant.
  • Use search engines like google or yahoo to look at websites where there are freelance writing jobs available and create an account. Get in touch with the clients looking for freelancers and try your best to gain trust.
  • Try writing in different styles, from a first point prospect or a more professional view. Every writer has topics that are like their comfort zone but every now and then try and get out of this zone. Be adventurous, writing is creativity let it lose.
  • Get to know your strengths and weaknesses. Having a few weaknesses does not make you a bad writer but it is important to know this as this could help you overcome your own shortcomings.
  • Spend a little time learning something new about writing or freelancing. As you write more articles your skills will naturally develop, you could also try a college course too. You could get help from teachers on how to improve your work.
  • As well as learning skills on how to write well you could learn other skills like creating a website or blog. Skills like this could give you one up on your competitors. You could offer more then them.

Along with all the above good presentation, meeting deadlines and being reliable are some of the qualities you need to build a strong list of loyal customers and clients.
