Ifeoma Okoye’s The Trial and Other Stories: On Between Women and The Used of Poetic Techniques

Ifeoma Okoye’s Between Women is a short story that narrates realistic plagues of oppressed workers specifically women. The delivery of the narrative is characterized by simple use of poetic techniques particularly figure of speech. This paper presents six kinds of figure of speech used as poetic technique and seen throughout the short story namely: allegory, aphorism, commiseration, hyperbole, rhetorical question, and simile.
