Writing Essays

Writing an essay is not just writing as you would normally write a letter or summarize an event it requires a collection of ideas to be noted so that you can effectively introduce, describe, defend, compare, present and analyze situations or ideas so that the public better understands what you want to say.

An essay can come as a supplement to what is orally described; a written description of an object might be a valuable addition to just hearing about what the object does.

Ideally the person should not repeat what he has heard but put ideas in his own words. He should answer hypothetical questions that could arise in a forum so that he has all his bases covered and there are no other details left undescribed. He should right crisply and effectively by avoiding repetitions and mundane sayings so that the reader’s interest is held and if he is going to use quotes, then his sources should be noted.

More effort should be made giving his own opinion on a particular subject and what he thinks of an issue than referring to whatever someone else said, however if he has to defend an argument than references to another paper is more than welcome.

Essays follow different categories based on their purpose and content. A defintion essay is going to refer to the meaning of the word and even its derivation. A descriptive sessay will explain what a term or object means to a particular person. A person can write an un believable amount on the cups his mother used or on the state of the fruit in his fridge.

The author should not deviate from the main line of discourse as this will distract the reader but references can be giving to add color and dimension to the writing. Most importantly his information should be factual as there will be people who will verify his references especially if he does not  want to come across as someone who is vague or has little foundation to what he is defending.

So putting together an essay is much more than just writing details down haphazardly. It involves knowing what the purpose of the writing is, keeping to particular structure and knowing how effective to be.
