•       Impacting/thought provoking introduction and conclusion.

•       Reader response in conclusion e.g. the relevance of a theme to society or adolescents today.

•       Discuss literary devices e.g. foreshadowing, irony, symbols, narrative point-of-view.

•       Linking words to begin paragraphs – e.g. furthermore, moreover, in contrast, on the other hand. 

•       Plan ideas, including order of paragraphs so ideas flow more logically.

•       Expand on ideas and quotes – what is the writer’s purpose (link to devices used in quote).

•       Keep to present tense.

•       Proofread – does it make sense.

•       Formality – no contractions, vocab choice

•       Poems – mention specific language features.

•       Mention how language works (devices)
