Running Out of Ideas

Is there a time in your writer’s life that you felt the pressured of having to produce fresh and interesting articles the most you can?

I opened my e-mail, clicked on the “We Miss You” subject and then proceeded to skim the content. I didn’t really bother reading the whole details because I’ve been receiving this e-mail for around two to three times already. I am sure for some Triond writers who’ve been missing in action, you can relate to this.

To tell you the truth, I do constantly visit the Triond community. I am not entirely “missing in action”. Actually, I’ve been reading your works and I even left comments here and there. What I do fail though, is to submit an article that is fresh and interesting like you did.

Every time I visit the site, I am in constant pressure. I see interesting pieces of your work and they seem to pour endlessly. If that is the case, then why am I not able to create as you do? I know we are different, unique in so many ways and in how we tackle our subjects. But do you, in any way, run out of ideas? It seems that you don’t, judging on the response of your captured readers.

I do not have any grudges against you, if that’s what you’re thinking. I am just really curious if you feel the same as I do — if you’ve also felt the pressure. Was there any instance in your writer’s life that you opened your word editor ready to kick in the ideas, but only to stare at it balnkly? Was there any instances when you willed your brain or creativity or whatever you call it to function?

Or you’re probably one of those gifted writers who opens the word editor and ideas would just pop out of nowhere; words pour out like a full-blast faucet. Hmm…bet you were born to be a writer. Anyway, is there such thing as destined or born to be a writer? Or is everything nowadays can be learned by self?

I envy you. It’s because unlike me, you don’t spend days after days of opening your word editor and then closing it; scratching your head, willing ideas to appear on scratched areas; staring at the ceiling, hoping for ideas to drop.

At the same time, I admire you. It is because despite the pressure, you still continue to produce that signature work of yours. You never fail your readers. You never fail to capture their interest. I am really impressed.

But my question is still left unanswered. Do you, in any way, run out of ideas?

Great toughts! I personally think that everyone has days were they just can’t get the flow going. But somehow we break through the barriers, we each have a method that works for us.

Yes, that’s why I put out a lot of crappy naterial. I write about things on TV or what I read in the papers. If I can’t think of anything interesting I just write something. Terrible but that’s the way it is

When I run out of ideas, I start reading, go to the library, and keep my eyes and ears open for something to inspire me..Some time, you need to take a break, and come back fresh…

I sometimes run out of ideas, but more often than not I have too many and cannot decide which one to work on at the time
