This is tips and tricks on how to grab people’s attention when writing a persuasive essay.
Persuasive essays are hard to write, I mean, it’s pretty hard to keep the attention of someone and answer all of their questions just in a little page or two paper, isn’t it? There are some ways to make your essay more effective, you just have to use them in the right way! No matter what the topic is, you can use these tips to persuade the reader of your essay a little better, and if not persuade them, at least make them a little more interested.
First of all, when you are just beginning your essay, it would be best for most people to do an outline of their essay in order to collect their thoughts, now some people this only slows them down, which is understandable because everyone is different. When writing your outline, you should have a main topic sentence and three details, maybe more, in order to get your point across. After this, you can start your actual essay.
When writing your essay be sure to use clear words, like must, should, have to, instead of things like can, may, or other vague phrases, and refrain from using contractions. Make sure you also use a wide vocabulary, as this can usually convey ideas better than commonly used words.
The opening of your essay is hard to start, but there are ways to make it easier! Once beginning your essay, so you can grab the attention of your reader, start with a question or a interesting statement, but usually the questions are most effective. Asking a question at the beginning of your essay jump starts the mind of your reader, it gets them thinking about the answer to your question.
The best way to write a persuasive essay to use the five paragraph setup. This includes an introductory paragraph, three paragraphs for details, and a conclusive paragraph. Also try to include 5-7 sentences in each of your paragraphs. These let you provide many details to your main sentence for that paragraph and allows you to be more thorough. Once completing your introductory paragraph, you will start your first detailed paragraph. When starting paragraphs after your introductory in a persuasive essay, it is best to use transitions. Transitions are words that let you provide connections between thoughts and sentences. Use these first in order to connect your thoughts. Common transitions used are first, next, last, finally, etc.
When writing your conclusive paragraph, you should quickly summarize your three detailed paragraphs. Remember this paragraph should only be about 5-7 sentences long, it can be a little more, I’m just saying don’t drag it out, as you will lose the interest of the reader. Once completely finishing your essay reread it. Check for grammar and spelling mistakes. Also change some sentences around or rewrite some sentences in order to clarify any vague idea. Once completely done with this, if you have used all these tips, you have successfully wrote an effective essay.
