How to Overcome Writer’s Block
This article shows how and where to get interesting topic ideas to write about. This is very helpful especially for online writers.
One of the online writers’ common problems is running out of topics, or finding an interesting topic.
Do you need an inspiring topic idea to write about? I have discovered a source of article ideas that has helped me a lot, and I want to share it with you.
Browse through photos and images on the stock photography sites online. My favorite is sxc.hu. There are many beautiful images and photos that are generously shared by the talented photographers. When I was browsing through these images, many article topics came into my mind. When you see images that you like, random thoughts will come into your mind. Jot them down and write articles about them. The reason I find this very useful is that when we try to think of article topics to write about, mostly we think about “text” in our mind. It is harder to think if there is no image attached to it. However if there are beautifully taken photos and images right in front of you, as you go through them you will say “Aha! That’s a great topic to write about”. Then the words will flow out freely from you since it’s like you’re describing the image through your stories, how-to’s, ideas, etc.
As an example, when I saw images of beautifully decorated homes, I was inspired to write my article home staging tips. When I saw beautifully taken images of food and dishes, I immediately remembered that we cook some of those dishes at home. That inspired me to submit recipe articles about them. When I saw photos of very clean living rooms and bedrooms, I was inspired to write a topic on how to reduce clutter. Beautiful images attract more readers to your articles. When you see interesting pictures it will inspire you to write about it. You will recall many things you know about when you look at pictures. Share your knowledge and write about topics that will help the readers in their everyday lives.

A problem I commonly face but this one article has inspired me. May I also suggest opinion articles? If you see a news paper article and you agree or disagree with it, you could write an article regarding that too.

This is good advice. I never thought of using photos to trigger an idea. Image is thought. Image is emotion. Image is action.
And since writer’s block can happen to any writer, because of your advice, a writer now has another tool to use to cure it.
