Five Article Method: A Hands-On Tutorial

Many people expressed interest in my 5-article method so I decided to create a user-friendly hands-on tutorial the will help you to create your first 5-article set.

A 5-article method is easier than it looks. Why not give it a try?

My recent article: Write Five Articles a Day the Easy Way offered a 5-article method that professional writers use to craft articles in record time.

The article received an immediate response and has been clicked on (via my Triond article feed) over at my blog Write and Earn a Living. While the response, as mentioned, has been good, some writers felt that this method would be difficult to execute.

I’m sensitive to their concerns. I decided that I would create a 5-article tutorial with hands-on participation. If seeing is believing, doing is even more convincing. I ask that you participate and then leave your comments at the end of this article.

Now, you may not choose this 5-article method when you are writing a longer article and that is completely okay–but the 5 article method is certainly a workable approach for smaller articles. In fact, once you get on to it, it may become a preferred and convenient method for crafting articles.

As one writer mentioned to me, you have to research your information prior to writing your article, why not use that research to produce more than one article? I’ve started a 5-article set and I find it is so convenient to research my subject and then write information into Word in my 5-article draft.

In my previous article, I mentioned using the Wordtrackerlabs Keyword Question Tool. This is a wonderful resource that you’ll find sparks many, many ideas for future articles. And in a minute, you see why I’ll use it here.

Are you ready to get started? Grab a pen and a piece of paper or, perhaps even better, simply print off this article, then use it beside your computer. You’ll be working alongside of me. If you are using your computer, start a new file in Word.

5-Article Tutorial

Step I

When thinking in terms of producing five articles simultaneously, simply think topic +  five article slants. You can either generate your own slants or use the questions from the Keyword Questions Tool to find ideas for your articles.

Let’s choose a sample topic: “marriage.” Now beside marriage, write a slant (the direction you want to take with each article). Do this five times.

Here’s what I came up with:

  1. marriage + vows
  2. marriage + customs
  3. marriage + mates
  4. marriage + locations
  5. marriage +  . . .

I got stuck on the last one. Now I’ll go to the Wordtracker tool to see what marriage-related information others are searching for. What does a search reveal? 100 results. I’ll simply pick another slant from the entries.

I’ll use the second entry “what to say when you propose marriage” to create my slant:

5. marriage + proposals = Marriage Proposals

See how easy this is? In minutes, I’ve generated 5 titles and 5 article slants. What did you come up with? If some of your slants were the same, don’t worry about it. This is an exercise. Also, for future articles, you may simply choose to use the Question Tool to give you article title ideas.

Step II

Now, lets see how to work on these articles simultaneously by adding introductory paragraphs to all five. Read through my five paragraphs first and see if you can spot similarities.

1. Marriage Vows

Marriage vows are a integral part of marriage ceremonies around the world. Some couples use traditional marriage vows while others choose to create their own. What vows will you choose?

2. Marriage Customs

Marriage customs add meaning to that special day. But marriage customs differ greatly around the world. What customs will you choose?

Image via Wikipedia

3. Marriage Mates

Choosing a marriage mate can be a tricky process. We all want the right partner but navigating the playing field of potential mates can be like trying to dodge landmines. How can you choose a suitable partner?

Image via Wikipedia

4. Marriage Locations

Where will your marriage take place? Inside the walls of an ancient church or out-of-doors by a serene mountain lake? Choosing a marriage location can be a make-or-break factor when planning a wedding. Read on for insights on choosing the perfect marriage location.

Image via Wikipedia

5. Marriage Proposals

Marriage proposals come in many shapes and sizes. Some people go to great lengths to make sure the words they choose are just right, others treat proposals casually. What type of marriage proposal will you choose?

Image via Wikipedia

Your introductory paragraph sets the stage for the information to follow. Notice how the reader is encouraged to either take action (4) or is asked a question (1,2,3,5). These are called bridges. Like the actual physical structure used to cross a waterway, a paragraph bridge naturally leads the reader forward into the next paragraph.

Okay, write your five introductory paragraphs. Keep it simple.

Step III

Now, research marriage and as you come across information about it recast it in your own words in whatever area above is a fit. At this stage try to view this as one project in five sections. (You may choose to complete this part after you’ve read through to the end of this article.) Because you are creating a larger body of work, make sure you save your file periodically so that if something goes wrong, you haven’t lost five articles in the making.

Step IV

Once you’ve written a couple of paragraphs containing relevant information in the appropriate sections, you simply write five concluding paragraphs. You’ll want to  “wrap up each article and tie it with a bow.”

Go back to your first article and write a one paragraph conclusion. I’ll do this, too. What did you come up with? Would a reader feel satisfied that his questions had been answered?

Here’s my conclusion for my first article, Marriage Vows:

Now that you’ve explored both traditional and original vows, you are equipped to make the appropriate choice: words that enhance your ceremony, sentiments that live on, long after the wedding day.

Step V

Once you’ve written your five articles and have polished them, you simply copy/paste each article. A neat trick is to publish the first article, them grab its URL and embed a link to it in your second article. When you publish your third article, you grab the second article URL, and so on.

From the foregoing it can be seen how writing five articles simultaneously is entirely possible. Should you use this for all of your articles? No. Could you use it for some of them of them? Yes. Depending on what market you are writing for.

Using this 5-article method is a time-saving technique that will help you to create articles in record time. Some writers have found this system so efficient they use it to create most of their articles.

    Hi Kate and Stephen,
the five article method really save time because you only do the research once, over having to locate it five times for each article. Let me know how you make out. And remember that online articles don’t have to be too lengthy, usually 250-400 words suffices and satisfies most readers.

    Hello, Everyone,

It’s similar to cooking for an extra guest. You already have the pot, you just add more ingredients.

    Hi Athlyn,

I have been become a reader of your articles. I tried not to and I failed. You have taken time from me I did not think I had. Your articles are easy to read, interesting, well written and planned, and most of all, I find your articles informative.

I really like this article. I like the webtraker tip. I tried it with some keywords that I thought would yeild some good results and got some mediocre results. Then I tried some ol the obvious high yeilding keywords and got some unexpected results. For example: Free returned keywords about movies and Girls had some really unexpected keyword results.

I started to try different types of words, words that would occur in the most searches, words that already occurred in the results of any word you searched. Some of the words I tried were who, what, where, why, do, how, the and I, to name a few. The results for eacy query increased, as expected, dramatically. What was not expected was the rich keywords that were in the results.

Thanks for the tip and the article. See you around.

Wow, this really works! I wrote and submitted five articles to Triond this afternoon and evening. I’d already done two this morning for EzineArticles, so that’s a total of seven articles today. That’s a record for me, as the most I’ve ever done in one day before was three. Thanks for a great tutorial. I’ll be making of habit of this.

    Hi Darlene,

Thanks so much for your feedback. I’m sure it will encourage other to try the five article method.

Yes, it really works. I think sometimes writers make it harder than it need be.
You can still produce quality articles without it being a difficult process.

I will give this a shot as I need more ideas to generate more articles. I am at 3-5 per month. (not much) When school ends here in three weeks (yeah graduation), my goal is to write 30-40 articles per month for my first goal.
    Thanks for the wonderful tips.

    Hi Chris,

As with most things, if you have a method for creating articles, it makes the process easier. The five article method is designed to save time.

Content writers know they have to produce a significant number of good-quality articles to realize earnings.
