How To by

We have all written essays in our life times and we have often wondered how to start them. Even if you do not write essays, you may find this article helpful for writing your own articles, letters, and blogs.
- Topic. You should always start an essay or a blog posting with a statement of topic. A s a reader I do not like to be thrown straight into the material at hand. I like to be told what the writer is writing about and what to expect. Often a general statement about the topic will be enough.
- Filler. The filler is used to give a focus on the topic that you are discussing. It contains information about the idea that is being discussed, the sources that are used as information, as well as making the focus of your work more specific. Here you give the reader a sense of anticipation of what is coming.
- Stance/Thesis. This is where you state your own opinion on the topic that you are discussing. You also write what you are going to use to prove your ideas in this section. There is always more than two ways to solve a problem so be creative with how you present this part.
- Line of Approach. In sports you need a strategy to win a game. In a similar way the Line Of Approach, is your strategy to convince the reader that your opinion is correct. It is not the facts or the analysis, but it is the way you will explore the ideas that you have at hand.
By following these steps you will be well on your way to writing a successful product of writing. This will not only make your work more attractive, but it will also bring in more readers to your works.

It’s interesting how this outline of an essay is very similar to the form of the short story: title, beginning, middle and the resolution. I guess both are built on what the human mind expects. So, all good writing whether fiction or non-fiction probably have the same form because the writing is going for the same effect.
