A Few Random Ways to Resolve the Dreaded Writer’s Block

Sometimes it’s just easier to put the article away for a few days, or months depending on the deadline, and then getting back to it can start a whole new approach.

Alright, writer’s block and I are basically besties by now.  We constantly run into each other.  Well, I’ve come up with a few ways that I think might help you avoid as many encounters with this beast.

One thing that really helps me become more creative is going back and reading old things that I’ve written.  Not necessarily published items, but random things like those little notes I scribble on the side of my paper when I’m frustrated.  Sometimes those bring on this feeling that makes me think, whoa, I can actually do something with that.

When I’m having trouble working on some part of an article, I’ve found that sometimes it’s just easier to put the article away for a few days, or months depending on the deadline, that way when I get back to it I can start a whole new approach and then, come out with a magnificent piece.

I also love writing with my mp3 player on random.  Music can influence your mood, as well as your writing style.  It can be a nice change, and those random lyrics can bring some enjoyable creativity out and help you to even write something outside of your element.

Another thing I love doing, especially when I’m frustrated, has to do with the first thing I listed.  I love writing down random lyrics from songs somewhere on my paper that describe my mood at the time.  When I find those papers months later and I see all of the random lyrics written there they really do help spring on a mass of creativity as well as put a smile on my face.

So basically, if you run into writer’s block, seriously try a few of these things and I’m hoping I can help you conquer it!
