How to Become an Editor.
An Editor tells a Writer whether the story they written are good or bad. If any changes are needed the Editor Job is to change the words to make it better. They review, rewrite, and change the words of Writers. They also plan what should be in a book, or newspaper, or magazine. It’s up to the Editor –what to print, and to also assign a topics to a writer. It is their responsibility to know what the public wants and to get it to them on time.
To become an Editor you will need to have a college degree, in Communication, Journalism, and English.
Most Editors work in quiet offices. Although some work in noisy rooms like news printing rooms and some have to travel while some gather their information from people over the telephone and at a local library.
You must have knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling. And be able to write clearly. Editor must have good judgment so they can make good choices when choosing topics and material for magazines and newspapers.
Editors earn income is between $35,250 and $64,140 a year. The lowest paid 10 percent earned less than $27,340. The highest paid 10 percent earned more than $87,400 a year according to bls.gov.
Editors often have to guide and encourage others in their work. It is very important for you to be self-reliant and a self starter to encourage others, in the field of Editors.
