An update on a previous article.
On the 11th of February I published an article comparing Helium and Triond. I am still active in both, and got a very nice little surprise a few days ago. An article I had written for the Helium Marketplace quite awhile back was purchased by a client! My first ever sold article! I am quite excited about it, and have been leapfrogging some of my other articles to see if I can improve them enough to be sold as well.
I also made my minimum payout on Helium in February; thanks to a little self-marketing the last few days of the month. I wish I had thought of that sooner! With the sale of my article, I will also be getting a payout in the middle of this month. I wonder how many more I can sell before then? It is not enough to pay the rent, but it is a step in the right direction. My daughter has it spent already…and it hasn’t even hit my bank account yet!
I have been kicking up the rating on Helium as well so I can get my rating stars back up. I have to maintain at least one to qualify for earnings, but why only shoot for minimum? I’m looking for maximum rating stars and eventually maximum writing stars! For anyone wanting to earn a few extra dollars, Helium is a good place to start.
As I write and publish on different sites, I am getting a better understanding of what each site expects of its authors. I think first and foremost they expect quality. I know I am not the first in saying spelling, grammar and punctuation are key when it comes to writing a quality article. They also want original articles. Sometimes the idea isn’t original, but the content of the article should be. Take this article for example: the idea of Helium vs Triond is not original, but I am putting my own spin on it.
I encourage anyone to try a few different sites, just to get a feel for how they work. Plus it gives you a broader audience if that is what you are looking for. I love being a member of Triond, as the community is so supportive and helpful. I haven’t noticed the same level on some of the other sites. Some are strictly business, but that is not a bad thing either. If we can make each one work to our advantage, then more power to us!

Congrats Diane!
I have heard one needs a 75% rating score in order to get a payout at Helium. Do you know anything about that?

Excellent article, well done. I agree why aim for one when you can aim for the stars! I too recently discovered self marketing and it has made a difference.

Strive….the rule is one has to achieve and maintain at least a 1 star rating to receive earnings. I am not quite sure what that works out to percentage wise, but I have only done 47 rates in the last 30 days, and I am still at three stars. To maintain at least one rating star, you need to do between 10 and 99 rates in 90 days…it is very easy to do at least one a day. If you are not already a member of Helium, I suggest you try it. No harm can come of it.
Good luck!
Thank you all for your support and encouragement!

Rating stars do affect your earnings on Helium. At least three is good, but five is better. To get five rating stars you need to rate about six per day.

Miss D…Congratulations on making your first sale in the writing field…There is something kind of exhilerating to see your name on a story in print…the biggest secret to success as a published writer, as you have indicated, is quality…and this submission is further proof that quality writing makes for a good read and this is a good read and my I Like It vote indicates that…thanks and take care…

Congratulations on selling your article on Helium! I have stayed with passive earnings there so far. You have a very practical approach. I like it and find it refreshing!
