A sentence is a group of related words that express a complete thought.
A sentence must contain a subject and a predicate.
Subject: a subject is a noun or pronoun that is the main subject of the sentence.
Complete subject: includes the subject and any of its modifiers.
Simple subject: is just noun or pronoun that is the main subject of the sentence.
Ask who or what before the verb to find the subject.
Fragment: is a group of words that form a part sentence because it is missing a subject or predicate.
Predicate: a predicate is a word or group of words that is a verb or verb phrase.
Complete predicate: a group of words that includes the predicate, its complement, and any modifiers.
Simple predicate: is the main verb or verb phrase.
Complement: the word or word group that completes the predicate
Complements are DO-direct object, IO-indirect object, PA- predicate adjective and PN-predicate nominative. PA and PN always follow a linking verb
A modifier is a word that describes the subject, predicate, or complement. It will be adverb or adjective.
