We all need good English. It’s an edge over others.
Do you love learning English? If you do, well and good. You have just achieved the first and foremost requirement to speak better English and be fluent with it. Never say that you wanna learn English just because you were told to do so but be sure that you want it and you love it. Passion is something that keeps you going in whatever you do. Improving English can be of different level. But in either level, reading is the key. Reading is learning and learning is improving. A good tip to try on is to read loudly that you’ll be able to ear every sound you produce and give chance to others listening to you to correct any possible error you make. Audio tutorials are always a great way to learn. With that, you gain familiarity with how a word is pronounced thus avoid the chances of committing mistakes and be used to it. Hiring a tutor is obviously a good option but it requires money. So one advice, CCP. Constant Correct Practice. We often neglect the fact that it’s CCP and not just practice because practice could be of different form and if you turn on to a poor practicing habit, you fail.

I agree with all your points Jane. As for me, English is my 3rd language after my mother tongue and our national language. I didn’t get to speak proper English until I was in college and at work place. For those who want to improve their English, my number 1 suggestion is to read, read and read.
Thanks for the post!
