A Simple Technique in Writing: Free-writing

About free-writing…

It was one morning when I noticed something on my table. To tell you, I was in my room that time. I noticed a pen, which I borrowed it from my long lost friend – Anthony. Actually I always love listening to the name Anthony because that name would remind me of someone who made my heart skip a bit. Back to the thing that I observed or noticed (I keep on using synonymous terms because I am not sure of the words I used), I saw a pen, a pen that made and changed my life forever. I did not know why. It was because after I held the pen with my hand, I was not able to do away with writing. The pen kept on telling me that I should use it because I have had the passion in writing.  Because of that, writing made my life different.

After that moment, I started writing about life of my own. I wrote different subjects, any subjects under the sun. I also wrote vignettes, personification, and short narratives. Anything that would come to my mind would be written on paper. I was totally upset most of the time indeed because I did not have a personal computer at home. If I did have, I would have written things that overflowed into my mind, things that could be impossible to write. Yet, I think writing is so easy as long as my readers understand me.

At first, writing was impossible for I believed that I could not express my thoughts, my ideas, and my emotions. Much more so, I have not been a master of English language because I am a Filipino. English language is my second language, and I find it hard to master. However, I have kept on trying until I became manageable its use. The command of the language I think is not that difficult and I know it will be much fun if I use it. Moreover, in writing, I use different  genres and types with various techniques. Even a simple write, I keep all those as part of my collections. Indeed, I have no finished product of final copy of all my articles. Everything is a draft. But see! I can write anything I want without worrying my grammar. Though I usually conform about the rules of grammar, I also commit mistakes. But hey! Who will care? As long as one can understand my writing, that matters most. And, this is free-writing. Try it.
