Writing Stars and Helium.com

An account of one writer’s financial dealings with helium.com.

Do you like to interact and network with online writers, just like yourself?  Then Helium.com is the place for you.  The website is loaded down with networking writers and competitions.  But there are a few glitches to the place that you should be aware of.

The editors of helium.com are self serving.  By that I mean that they probably use whatever writer they want in any way they want and have the nerve to track you down online if you are not contributing to their site or if you decide to move your material to another site.

Helium.com does not pay, not even token payments to those writers who do not have clout with them or who do not know their editors personally.

I have been writing for helium.com for three years and have not had a single cent deposited into my paypal account.  My writing stats fluctuated in two days from 55.35%to 55.56% to 55.35%.  The percentage depends on whether the editor assigned to your account is having a bad hair day or not.

By all means write for helium.com as I intend to, but just keep in mind that you are not a poor writer, you are just not one of their in members who know the editors on a personal, let’s have lunch, level.

Untrue. I\’ve never so much as spoken to one of their editors – aside from the occasional commentary on my pieces – and I\’ve made lots of money off Helium. It takes a lot of articles and a lot of time to get rewarded, however, and you need to get your articles in the right categories to make money once you\’ve got enough stars.

I agree with the first comment. I’ve been a member of Helium for about 3 weeks and already making money. The thing I like about Helium is that you can earn without having to actively promote your articles through forums and messageboards, which I hate doing. If you write well, you’ll get paid at Helium, end of story.
