Write Articles to Get Exposure

Writing articles that are good enough to get published is not everyone’s cup of tea. It is an art which can easily be learned.

Writing articles that are good enough to get published is not everyone’s cup of tea. It is an art which can be easily learnt. But for those who shriek at the very thought of penning down articles and consider resorting to the pen and paper only when they are in utter need of it, it might be like a chore they would want to skip any day. For some, getting traffic from their articles is equally, if not more important than the sales they earn from their website.

Here is a seven step staircase towards writing impressive articles and making fans all over the web:

Step 1:  Defining the topic and setting of Goals

It is very essential to have a clear picture of what you want in your mind before jotting it down. Thus a good writer needs to clearly define his ideas first. One can concentrate on the given topic so he decides upon the broad message to be spread through his words. The topic would obviously be dependant on the allotment or something that interests you.

After the topic has been clearly decided, the next step lies in defining and setting the goals.  This would include the selection of the most appropriate writing format. For instance, writing an e- book and a report over the same topic of health would have to be written in two different styles for giving the perfect output. Setting goals defines a standard so you can relatively measure your work and grade your performance, in case there is any scope of improvement after the final drafting.

Step 2: Research of the content over the various available sources of information

The subject matter to be discussed in your article needs a thorough study from maximum possible resources to make your readers believe you know the in and out of your subject and are a master of it. Usually most of the research work is successfully completed online itself through the major search engines or the vast e library.

For those intricate details that are not available on the internet as well can be found through sources like libraries or public/private archives. One can even arrange for interviews or personal meetings if that is of any help as well.

It will always be helpful if the research is carried out in an orderly manner and side by side important notes are made.

Step 3: Writing it down

After all the vigorous research and the taking down of notes, this step includes the free flow of your ideas onto the paper minus any manipulations or editing. It is like your first attempt towards the given subject. This is a non critical outflow of the knowledge gained through the research.

For relatively shorter articles, only a single shot would solve the purpose whereas for longer articles, the material may be broken down into short chapters and thus can be worked upon using the write edit and then polish policy of formulating long articles. Although, correction and improvement is an integral part of writing, but it is also true that going back again and again on the written material sometimes interrupts the outflow of one’s creativity making the whole writing project seem very lengthy and difficult.

Step 4: Editing

This stage includes proper editing, spell checking, modifications and ordering if necessary. One can now organize the whole thing into proper paragraphs and a good presentation.

One can carry out proof reading and checking of grammar, heading towards a finished article. It is very obvious that proof reading and going through the article again and again is a time consuming process, so much so that it might take up the maximum time of all the steps written here.

Step 5: Polishing

This step deals with the tone and rhythm of the article.

Once you have successfully reached till this stage, your work has already been proof read, and thus is free of any spelling mistakes or errors in the grammar used in a good layout. After this perfect readable stage, one needs to take care of how the thing would sound.

For this you must read it aloud to help you proceed.

To know whether your work is in flow or not, there are no specific steps of verification. It can be compared to an elephant, which might be a little too difficult to describe but easily recognizable. Just as the poem or music has a rhyme and rhythm to it, you need to identify if the article sounds rhythmic.

Once you are going through the article for the polishing step, an interchange of a single word with it synonym or rephrasing a sentence would aid in the improvement of tone of the entire paragraph.

After performing this step, one can realize the difference between the words people feel like reading and the words they are compelled to read and obviously, the former is the need of your article.

Step 6:  Submission

On completion of the article, it is the duty of the writer to distribute it amongst maximum number of publishers ready to publish it on their websites or papers. This is thus, the publicity generation step, which needs maximum number of publicity generating machines.

One can carry out the distribution manually or use software to do the thing.

On distribution, keep in mind that your resource box address is well visible at the bottom of the published article.

A word of caution: Do not over submit the work

Step 7: Start Afresh

As your publishing is gaining traffic and is being read by majority of people, to build repute amongst the masses, you must continue your work and head on to the next topic while seeing your previous one do wonders for you.

These 7 steps are likely to help you head start your writing career and carve a niche for yourself minus forgetting any essential tasks involved in it.
