Improve your writing

Write and Never Run Dry

There are thousands of stories, articles, poems and everything else in your head that you have to learn to bring out. Once you know how to do it you can produce on demand at anytime and on any day.

Can a writer really do that? Of course you can. But there are a few secretes about writing you must know. There are thousands of stories, articles, poems and everything else in your head that you have to learn to bring out. Once you know how to do it you can produce on demand at anytime and on any day. Easy for you to say you are thinking. Well yes it is and I’ll tell you how!

•    Does it take practice – Yes.

•    Is there a trick to it – Yes.

•    Can my dog or cat learn to do it – No.

It’s In There – Let’s Pick One Out

At any given time thoughts are running through you head at a bazillion miles an hour.
Every life experience, every emotion, every person you have ever known and much, much more. They are all on constant replay, know it or not. These are the things that make you, you. All you have to do is poke your finger on the spinning ball of thought and see where it landed. Let’s try it!

Poke – Oh, Aunt Martha! But you really don’t want to write about Aunt Martha and the traveling salesman? OK, let it spin again and take another poke. Oh, this is good; we hit your first wedding anniversary. You like that one do you? You’d love to write about that one but you say nothing out of the ordinary really happened. It was wonderful, but it was just your typical first anniversary. Everyone has those. I want to spin again…… Hold it right there, don’t you dare let that ball spin again! You said you would love to write about it didn’t you? Well, let’s look closer.

•    What day of the week was it
•    Did you both have to work that day
•    Was it sunny, did it rain
•    Were there any surprises
•    What was said between you
•    What did you think about that first year
•    Did you both make any promises
•    How did he or she look in your eyes that day
•    Did you go anywhere
•    What do you remember of the place
•    Were you broke on your first anniversary
•    Was anyone else with you
•    Did anything amuse you or your better half that day
•    Did you dream about the future, what did you plan
•    What did you feel

Hell, I wasn’t even at your first anniversary and I could write three or four pages on it!

It’s all in there Hemingway. All you have to do is focus on any event or experience and I assure you there is a story or verse behind it. You can’t see it until you stop the ball and focus on all the supporting documentation stored away in that noodle.

I Don’t Think Anyone Will Be Interested

If you had to stop passers by on the street and ask if they wanted to know about your first anniversary, it might take you all day to find someone who said, “Why yes, I would love to know all about your First Anniversary. Do tell!” But luckily that’s not the case. Think of Trion as a Book Store – thousands of people walk by thousands of books they are not interested in until something catches their eye – There it is, “Duck Farming.” I love ducks and I must have that book. There is no accounting for everyone’s taste. Remember, if everyone had taste there would be no art! I personally am not interested in you first anniversary but I guarantee you there are thousands that will be.

Will I Be A Better Writer

Sorry to say, but no. In and of itself it does not provide talent. If your writing is crap; it’s crap. But don’t forget – it’s crap that makes the flowers grow. I write crap all the time, Take a look R.J Grant. Write for yourself and write often (I just showed you how). Enjoy the perspective of your thoughts And this is the big one….the more you write the better your writing will become.

OM, I was reading this at the library and just could not keep quiet. A giggle here, a snicker there, well you see where I’m going. Before long I was LOLing all over the place. Nevermind that, back to your article, as per usual I loved it, apparently I like to read about crap. No, no, really I like the way you spin things around. BTW…I’m still laughing and ppl are starting to stare…maybe i should write about that.
