I have tried other Pay for Content Sites and Triond is the best, bar none! Find out why.
This article was inspired by an article, from Mnofdichotomy, called, The State of Triond, The Hot Content List, and Making Money Here . If you have not read it, you may want to do so. This is not, in any way, a reaction to his article. This is an article about why I choose to use Triond above other Pay For Content sites. I have belonged to many of these sites over the years. Some of them were places where I was paid when people would listen to my music, others when people viewed my artwork. I belong to a couple of others, now that pay for articles and creative writing.
As far as the music side of Triond, I feel that it could be better. I do miss the good old days of the original MP3.Com, where I got money every time someone listened to my music or purchased a CD of it. In spite of that, Triond lets me post music that others can listen to and they pay me for it. They do not make judgments on the type of music I post, or have a moderator, or editor, telling me what I can and can not post, based on their personal tastes, as some other places to. A very big thing to an experimental composer. At Triond, I post music and it is put on The Net immediately, and stays there as long as it is my own work. This is the same for video and photographic content. If it is your own work, that fits within Triond guidelines, there is not someone there to shoot it down based on their personal opinions, before anyone else has a chance to view it. Even though, this may allow work being posted, that we as individuals, do not think is good enough, it is okay. Leave it up to those viewing it to decide if they like it and want to leave a positive comment.
When it comes to writing, Triond gives the creator of the work many more options than other sites. You can have articles and creative writing that are, as bland as all of those other sites, or you can let all of your creative juices flow all over Triond’s Online Editor, and create an article or creative piece that not only includes what you have written, but also photos and videos, that make these pages works of art unto themselves. This is huge. The ways I have been able to enhance the poetry I have posted on Triond amazes me. I love what I can do on Triond so much that, now I hate even working with these other sites. I can make my articles and reviews come alive with videos and photographs, that enhance what I am trying to express, or showcase, far beyond that of any other Pay for Content site, I have belonged to. Again, this is done without, a moderator or editor, telling me, that I can not do something based on their personal bias.
The best part, about all of this is, that at Triond, we have the ability to put our creative writing, our informative writing, our photographs, our videos, and our music, on The Internet at the same place, and get paid when someone cares enough to view them. All of this is done in a simple way that actually showcases our work and does it justice. There is another pay for content site that is not so kind with photographs and artwork. Yep, the one that only lets you do slide-shows. No sense in naming names there. The way the Triond allows us to post all types of content, is an amazing benefit to those of us who have more than one creative interest. Also, at Triond, we can write about what ever we want, at what ever time we want. Unlike some other sites that make us wait until they give us a list of information to write about and tell us how they want us to write about it.
Triond may not make us all millionaires, however it allows us to make a little bit of cash, from our creative efforts. in what ever way we choose to do so. I personally do not want to see Triond overly moderated or subjected to the bias of an editorial staff, beyond that of making sure things are within the rules. I can deal with postings by those who, maybe are getting their sea legs, or need some improvement, far more than I can deal with some of the biases of an editorial staff, who may let their personal opinions control what type of content or ideas get on these sites. When you have as bizarre and extreme ideas as I do, the creative freedom, and the freedom of personal opinions, Triond allows, all of us, who choose to use its service, is something that I personally, look on with much gratitude.

I agree with you Mark. Triond for me is the best writing site in terms of what I want to publish and how I want it to be published. I must confess to not having tried other sites but I have looked at them. You know the way you can look at something and then almost automatically shrink from them? That’s how I feel about the other places (and I won’t name names either!) where I get the ‘oooo, no’ feeling almost immediately. I know that going with my instincts when it comes to making money online does not guarantee the dollars though!
Which brings me on to my next point – before people think I am waxing too lyrical about Triond. As mnofidchotomy has pointed out in a number of his articles, Triond is a publishing site. WIth that in mind it is in its own best interests to publish pretty much everything users send it. That leads to a massive dip in quality between those writers who spend their time on creating something special (or commercial or both!) and those who sling a few sentence together badly and get that published.
There are also those who should restrict online publishing to their first language. English is my second language and so I always feel a little hypocritical when I say that but I was lucky enough to be brought up in a completely bilingual environment. I wouldn’t dream of publishing anything in any of the four other languages I speak with varying degrees of fluency – and people who cannot write English properly should restrain from publishing their work until they can.
So there is a natural conflict between the high quality publisher and the dabblers. There is also conflict between the former and Triond themselves as the publication of poor and semi literate pieces has a damaging effect on everyone’s work, whether it is Authspot or Scienceray or any of the Triond family of sites – and this is purely in terms of reputation. Many sites have banned Triond sites. Digg has banned Compusight for example – and that is permament.
If Triond’s primary aim was the publication of quality work then they would restrict their authors. However, it is quantity not quality that is the name of the game, in order to satisfy the needs of their advertisers, such as Tribal Fusion who demand that sites get a large amounts of hits each day in order for them to be interested.
While there is a huge Triond community willing to exchange clicks (and I would really like to see the figures, as the ‘incestuous’ clicks as I call them must total thousands each day) then Triond will continue to publish pap and not really care. The only time it would care would be if people like you and I could guarantee them *millions* of hits each month. That would give us a whole lot of leverage.
My writing attracts clicks in the hundreds of thousands each month and I am probably one of the sites ‘big’ hitters in that respect. However, in terms of Triond’s income that is a tiny, tiny percentage and as such gives me no real input in to the way that their sites are run. We all have freedom of speech of course – and the trolls in the forum prove that if nothing else – but saying how a site should be run is a big difference to actually running one.
Oh dear – this has turned in to a three volume novel. I will stop now!

Very well written and informative. Thanks

I like it for the same reasons as you, Mark… the versitility factor. I would not want to be edited based on opinion of topics, however some rules should occur, basic spelling, proper grammar, etc.. should be enforced.

Triond gets to be appreciated over years of being here not on being here and having instant cash afterwards. I suppose earnings will come through years of patient writing and it only works best when one has mastered his ultimate writing skill. A nice thought on Triond, Mark.
