Never give up writing if that is your goal in life. Through Triond, the writer’s site, I have been given a writing chance to spread my wings in the writing world.
I joined Triond one year ago, I had kept my writing under wraps and never shared my work with anyone except those closest to me. I did write a couple of articles for a nursing magazine in the UK and was paid a generous amount per very simple article.
I secretly published my poetry book FROM MY HEART INSIDE MY HEAD in 2007 for my 50th birthday and found I sold in a few countries around the world.

I then found Triond writer’s site www.triond.com and started to offer up my poetry, photographs and then a few simple articles. I met friends and saw their names supporting me in the comments boxes, there were a few commenters who were deleted and a few non Trionders who left a ‘nice’ comment or two. Triond gave me courage, it set my mind free. I set up a few blogs, one of which is my poetry blog A POET’S WORD, it has attracted a few followers, I tick along quite contented with my writing efforts.
Yesterday, something changed my life, my spirits were lifted a little higher, I had been wondering which way my writing was going and was it time to stop writing on Triond, I earn extremely small amounts and am sometimes disappointed, anyway I opened my article about VILLAGE LIFE:POLEMI AND STROUMPI and glanced through the positive comments, then one caught my eye;
“I would like to speak to you regarding this article – as I am looking for a similar view for a magazine I am working with please contact me ASAP myron@faceartcy.com”
Well me being me, I googled this person before contacting, boy was I thrilled… A former BBC (UK television) script writer and author, had read my work and wanted me to contact him. I did and he is looking for writers on the island of Cyprus for a magazine and has invited me to be one of those writers. He is not a Triond writer, he sourced the Internet and found me.
Now the point of this article is to show you, that the outside world does read our work and that they are looking for quality writers, clear well written articles in good English. If you are serious about writing, forget wasting time on trivial nonsense and get down to the serious stuff, Triond is a site for writers to get noticed, my poetry has been on here a long time and gets some lovely comments from my friends, and I thank them all, however, I put an article that is different for me and going by the comments is obviously of interest, plus it caught the eye of someone who may be able to help my future writing career here in Cyprus. I will never give up.

You are a talented and gifted writer! Thank you for sharing. I personally believe that if we do what we love the most without our focus on what we get back, but instead on the passion, we ALL benefit.
Your attitude makes me feel like I’m right about that!
March 11th, 2009 at 5:53 am
You shouldn’t be too surprised Glynis – you write well. I really hope something good comes out of this for you.

thats is excellent.. BUT.. you might want to edit out the persons email here (put xxxx@ccc) or whatever, because they will get spammed by people pretending to be you and stuff like that
March 12th, 2009 at 12:10 pm
They left their email in the comment box for the whole world to see Mark so I did not feel it was necessary but I might consider it.
March 12th, 2009 at 12:28 pm
I really liked this article. You are a very lucky person. Your efforts are considered. Congratulations. Have a good time.
March 12th, 2009 at 12:35 pm
@Glynis Smy,
I didn’t think so.. yes, may be he left email so that many people will contact him through their own email accounts just to request some offer. Then this guy (if he is pretending) will get a good mailing list to send mails about a product or business he wants to advertise.. Now that is a really creative idea to attract innocent people who are like minded instead of attracting spam when scattering mail ids online..
Sorry to bump again.
March 12th, 2009 at 1:58 pm
If he left his email in a comments box then he won’t mind it being here. How on earth could somebody contact him pretending to be Glynis? How would they send email from her Cyprus email address.
How I escaped..the kbm : Of course he is genuine. He has excellent credentials and is a respected author. I know that Glynis has already been in contact with him and checked it out, so don’t worry, he won’t be building a mailing list!!!
Go for it Glynis!
March 12th, 2009 at 2:02 pm
Sorry, Glynis, forgot to say: Don’t forget me when you are rich and famous!
March 12th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
Oh, Glynis, good for you!!! Enjoy the writing! I selfishly hope you stay on here though, as I enjoy your writing and photos. BTW, I too got noticed and landed a part time job with the local newspaper. It’s only two stories per bi-weekly issue, but you never know….
Lately I have been warned to stay away from Triond, but results like these reinforce my belief in Triond. Good luck and God bless!
