Triond Roll Call

Let’s find out who’s really here…

Triond is far and away the best publishing site I have found on the web.  There are some that might pay a bit more, and some that may have features that Triond does not, but as a whole, it stands head and shoulders above any others I have found.

But it does have its weaknesses.  I have tried, since I started using the site, to figure out how to best get past the obstacles and share my findings with the community as a whole.  But there has been, to date, one problem I have been unable to solve, and that is the problem of effective networking within the site.

There are reasons for networking that go beyond mere socializing.  In an ideal setting, someone who focused on, for sake of example, historical writing, would want to connect with others here who write about similar subjects.  The whole ‘read mine and I’ll read yours’ concept is nice in theory, but in practice?  For example,  a good percentage of my writing deals with sports and politics, subjects about which I know many people simply couldn’t care less.  I, in turn, have no desire whatsoever to read about Runescape or effective ways to train a cat.

It is exceedingly difficult to root out current Trionders, much less ones who write on similar subjects.  You can use the ‘Explore’ feature, but it is at best slow and awkward to use.  I can type in ‘football’, and I will get a plethora of articles about it… but many will be from people who haven’t even been here for months upon months.  You can watch the newly published articles, but again, this is excruciatingly slow and tedious.  I tried several months back to do a census of sorts… went through every listed member of Triond alphabetically to D and requested them.  (over 6,000 total).  After a month, I had gotten just 200 responses.  I took the time to look through a good number of the leftovers, and found that in the segment I sampled, over 80% were defunct accounts.

So how do we figure this out?  With an experiment, of course.  In the comments section of this article, put a snippet on you.  Nothing complicated… no one wants to read an autobiography about you right away.  Keep it simple:

mnofdichotomy is a 35 year old man from Wisconsin who writes predominantly about sports, politics, and current events.

Do not post a URL… this isn’t about spamming.  Spam will be deleted.  But read through the list.  Add people as friends who you feel share common writing interests.  Reciprocating views are nice, and lets not mince words… they’re part of the game.  But in the end, an article on Renaissance artists with a comment saying “great write.  Informative.  Nice Pictures”  isn’t nearly as constructive as the guy who tells me my picking the Colts over the Titans is foolish and actually tells me why.

It may work, it may not.  I will get a few snide comments about how much money I’ll make on this article, which if you are at all familiar with Triond you will know is idiocy.  Everyone here could read and comment, and what I would get is a couple of days on the hot contend and 2 or 3 dollars.  And as this isn’t really promotable outside of here, it’s a waste commercially.

So give it a try if you’d like, and as I said, scan the list for potential common interests.  Don’t just add everyone (some slacker would undoubtably have tried) because you’re defeating the purpose.  So let’s hear it… Who’s out there?

What you could perhaps do is write an article

    POETS AHOY

I suppose all poets will read that article
And like to add there name
    And note others too.
This way you will get a poets only list.

I have 1000 on my list
    Some r perhaps poetry haters
    I can’t delete them
    Every time I do
I find I have knocked off a fan
    Then I reinstate THEM,
It takes lots of my time,
So u can add me on

    POETS

    SEXIEST GUIDE

    WRITERS OF ARTICLES

I have been restricted to as CREATIVE only
Whenever I send my work else where
    It gets rejected as quickly

Hope I have contributed a view.

    Best of luck

You will be a multi millionaire soon
