Triond Friends?

When I click the “Friends”, I get the typical auto-response,”..you’ve no friends activity…” From there I am sent off packing to “Explore”, from Here To Eternity. Upon clicking “Users”, the familiar landscape of Users loom into view. Soon I get lost in unfamiliar sand-bug pits amidst an undulating terrain of Names and  sand-dunes. I click on a few and see the self-certified descriptions. Big names with Big descriptions, small names with Big description, no description, nice photos, vague pictures, blank frames, the works. At times a really honest description turns you on. What again turns me off from clicking for friends is the dread of joining the Mutual Backpat Inc., that is likely to follow. This is a group activity that entails mutual admiration sans honest criticism. Not a bad idea if it keeps the Triond Cash Register ringing. If friends utilise the familiarity of friendliness to type in a few honest and critical comments, then it is really worth a try. Critical Appreciation is really encouraging even if it borders on the harsh truth which may sound bitter. The Triond Friends’ trend is a copycat experience whereby one tends to replicate the peers — following what others do, follow the leader etc. While I am yet to come across comments of ..”the next Shakespeare..”, one becomes clearly aware of underlying flattery when it is used to elicit a pat in return.

Safe Option

I guess it is high time to get my Triond Friends’ priorities right. May be I should opt for  one, or two friends based on a coin toss? Two they say, is company, while three is ugh! — a mob.  Or is it a crowd? Did you hear that? — the cash register jingles and says,”go for a comment-rich crowd!” Of course there’s another option — convert your best fans, the straight critique types into friends. Perhaps I should toss on this?
