Triond; Five Vital Changes That Will Make Triond a Better Site!

Triond is a great blog/content site that allows for huge writer flexibility, and offers us money for our written content. Despite Triond’s user friendly layout, multicultural and global readership, content breadth, and its potential as a world class blogging and freelance writer’s platform, Triond has its issues that dampen the whole ‘Triond’ experience. Let’s look at the top five areas that this site needs to improve to bring it up to what I consider a descent and acceptable standard! Read on…

Insufficient quality control needs complete overhaul!

This site has NO quality control! It really doesn’t. It would be nice to know that our content gets sorted personally and individually by human beings, not just an automated computer program! Relying solely on readership without actual human contact from Triond’s staff leaves me seeing Triond as a ghost ship carrying my sweat and tears into oblivion! I need to know that my content is appreciated by the site firstly and most importantly. I need to see that an actual human being has processed my work before publishing it. I need to see my work get rejected if it’s not up to standard, not just published and filed away into cyberspace!  I don’t want to continuously click on people’s content only to find sub standard, piss poor written vomit! There should be a system that would control people’s ongoing perpetual literary obliviousness towards the very basics in writing!  I don’t blame the writers so much. I blame the platform that encourages their incompetence, plagiarism, poor quality and this ongoing and brain numbing Triond culture based upon excessive sensationalism of the most unoriginal content I’ve ever seen on the net!

The culture of quantity over quality needs to end!

Triond actively supports popular but unoriginal ‘hot content’, over the high quality and original variety. This becomes clearly evident if one just takes a read of the extremely shallow, unoriginal, poorly written and downright pathetic content that gets continuously showcased under the reader led and popularity driven ‘hot content’ scheme! Readership on Triond is hugely connected to our ability to properly market our material. You will find that it’s the poorly written, shallow, sensationalist, but well promoted content that will continuously make the hot content list. This occurs whilst insufficiently promoted content by writers of a smaller but loyal readership base, get shafted by the sea of ‘sheep’ readers that rely upon sensationalism for their reading fix. I’m talking about the sheep readers that get sucked into reading the same piss poor crap that every other like minded fool has helped bolster, and all in the name of further shafting the writers that actually spend more than the 15 minutes in slapping together a few paragraphs of shallow content, er hot content! Let’s change the focus from quantity, reader exploitation, topic exploitation, sensationalism, unoriginality, blind popularity and the Triond trademark poor quality to a system based upon writer originality, writer excellence, topic perfection, quality driven popularity,  inventive creativity, skill, and a tightly bound writer – Triond – reader relationship. Let’s start by dismantling the whole ‘hot content’ idea! Remember people its quality before quantity. If somebody reads a written piece in particular, it doesn’t automatically make the writer a genius, but simply a good content promoter with an established readership base. Let’s stop rewarding content promoters and media like sensationalists and instead let’s begin rewarding the real writers out there!

The spellchecker needs upgrade!

This is a simple but vital upgrade that is long overdue for Triond. I’m finding that I have to edit all of my work nowadays through an external word processor before submitting my work into Triond. I have given up on relying on the faulty and insufficient Triond spellchecker! Come on Triond get your act together and give your writers a descent platform to work with, one that features maximum text customisation, state of the art word processing, and sufficient editing tools for all writers! It’s really a no brainer and about time something got done about the Triond spellchecker, it’s just pathetic in every way and hindering writer productivity!

There needs to be complete spam control!

The amount of comment, message, and forum spamming is just unbelievable on Triond! Spamming ranges from the jokers that comment spam everyone automatically, to the idiots that spam links to their articles to your messages! There needs to be a strict anti spamming system that calls for every spammer to get wiped out and have their ip address permanently banned from Triond! There shouldn’t be any tolerance of spammers, Internet trolls and anybody else that abuses our written endeavours here on Triond. Every bit of suspected spam needs to get reported, and have those complaints acted upon! It’s the automated spammers that are hugely boost the popularity of the ‘big shot’ writers on Triond and forever ensure that their crap gets put on the ‘hot content’ list! It’s quite simple really. The more spammers one has friends on Triond, the more automated views and spam comments they will receive, and the more popular their content will become. This ‘popular’ content then receives excessive exposure through the ‘hot content’ list and promotes and helps bolster content that’s generally not worth my two minutes of reading! Just look at the article by Dale Walker, ‘You the reader proves Facebook talks’! The article is a spammer created sensation that should be inducted in the Triond ‘hot content’ hall of fame! It’s also a perfect example in how spam drives the very culture of sub standard content, and quantity over quality that’s the backbone this site! Just check out its 3795 likes, and 442 comments to get an idea of what I’m talking about!

Added Customisation of the Triond profile pages and publications

Granted Triond is not entirely a blogging website, but it’s a community driven site that needs a much further developed user interface that allows for complete profile page customisation, and once content approval, absolute flexibility in how we want our published material to be presented. I’d like to see profile pages have graphical animation, cascading menus, music playability, a huge selection of page layouts, a content producer rating system, a multiple page layout system, and even music playability over our written articles! Just imagine the atmosphere, and the writer – content – reader cohesion that could be created by a reading ‘experience’ that’s designed to maximise emotional response and draw greater reader interest! Triond needs to ensure we have absolute control over our content (once it reaches a descent level of acceptable quality). A three dimensional quality could transform the written word, and added audio, video and voice recording over our written content should be available to our use. Let’s create Triond into ‘the Internet writing experience’, not just another content publishing site!

I’m sure there are many other areas Triond can improve upon to make itself a better site but the above were my top 5 vital improvements! As a Triond user it’s my right to voice my issues with this site and view a vision of what I’d like Triond to be someday! I’ve been on Triond for six months so I’ve written out of personal experience and observation.

These are excellent suggestions and I hope that at least a couple of them will be implemented. Your last comment about adding sound made me think that it would be great to have the author read their work for the visually impaired.

Thanks for reading Shhail, Aiswarya, and Tina Cassello! :) Its very appreciated. I really do hope some of my ideas get acted upon but the chance of that happening is about the same as my chance of winning the million dollar lottery! Next to nothing that is!

Hardly anyone reads my content to begin with, and i cant imaging Triond staff reading this either! Its done as pure self expression. yes i agree that added sound for the visually impaired would be excellent and open up Triond to an even wider community!

    Thanks

    Dejan.

Totally some great Ideas, now lets see what the future holds. I know that I was very suprised after I would read some of my own articles only to see I forgot a word or two and even mis-typed a word.
    Great article

I totally agree with you in this regard. If these changes are made, I’m sure Triond will become not a better site but a best site.

Dejan, that was the most honest and courageous piece I have read in this whole maze of junk. If only wishes were horses, if only accolades were showered on the rightful writers and not the impostors.. I am relatively new to Triond but it didn’t take me long to notice all these discrepancies you have mentioned here. The HC list totally disgusts me. The Dale Walker piece is simply unspeakable.
I has hopes that I would meet some great writers here who would help me develop as one but they are few to come by. So I embarked on the pain staking process of sifting through the dirt searching for the diamonds.
However, marketing is one area in which great writers seem to be at fault in. I just think there are ways in which a great writer can learn from those who belittle of this trade and beat them at their own game.
I believe, if all the worthy writers were to support each other, the terrain of the HC list may just change. Slow it maybe but sure, after all as you have rightly said, ‘Triond was born both deaf and Blind’

Great ideas! I hope they get implemented at some point. I’ve been on Triond for just over a year and I am often dumbfounded at some of the things that get published.

Hmmmmh, I have read this twice and thought I should add a comment. You are a very good writer Dejan and you’ve got lots of energy to take you places. Do you write for any other site? You remind me of when I first signed for Triond in 2008. I had the same expectations like you have and after unsuccessful posts that earned a dollar in a year discovered what the readers want. The managers want the same thing like you do but the market is simply not ready for some of your ideas. A writer worth his name should not depend on the spell checker provided but proof read his work irrespective of what the spell checker underlines. Its good you decided to edit your work before posting, those are the hallmarks of a writer. Like me, you have two choices. To either bend to accommodate Triond and its readers or quit. I bend low to accommodate them and never looked back. You seem to bother so much with the hot content list but to tell you the truth, do not bother, your aim is to express yourself, entertain, educate or sometimes relieve your stress and I believe writing does this whether you are on hot content list or not. A look at your profile reveals 101 articles meaning the quantity isn’t that bad, what you need to do is start writing some trash like I do, it sells like hot cakes. Save the best of your writing for some other day. That is my humble advice to you.

    Re LEO TOLSTOY
What can I say Leo, reading your comment made me happy to know that im not the only one who thinks the way I do, and thats comforting to know. Seeing genuine readership means that I havent wasted my time, and that ive got my view across succesfully. I write mainly to express my views and emotions, knowledge and hopes. To me my readership is extremely important. That is the genuine readership like the folk that commented on this article. I also get huge satisfaction reading my own material as I usually read my material at least 3-6 times once I publish.

Your a fairly prominent writer here on Triond, and I guess I could do with all of the advice one could get from people like yourself on this site. I wont be quitting Triond as its my only online writing endeavor and I also cant see myself having the time to copy all of my content over to another site. I aim to have thousands of articles here on Triond, as i see this website as an untapped online resource.

Thanks for your readership as its very appreciated. Thanks also to Ashan1614 for reading :)

Wow, this was very well written and you are right about some of the things that you mention in your article. The quesiton is, are the owners of the site that have the power to make the changes going to do anything about it. A big part of making the site better is to listen to what people are telling you they want or would like to see.

I have suggested a few things myself, but todate have yet to see any change.

Very good post and maybe the owners of the site will see this and give some thought to what you have put other there.

I’ve been a member at Triond for about a week now and I’m forced to agree with everything you’ve said here! Something should be done!

I just hope the page load speed will improve. I am sure many readers will just close the window rather than wait for the page loading.
I have suggested a simple quality control for writers by writers. See if Triond decides to adopt it. As long as the established and good writers are willing to take on moderation job, and Triond pays them a nominal amount, this will become a better publishing platform.

It is just a beginning for me on Triond however, whatever you have written has been observed by me as well. Surprisingly, Triond still remains much better than others sites, many people speak a lot about Triond.

  • I Am No One

can’t agree more, they should filter crappy writerslike myself, but chances are, it’s not gonna happen. It seems Triond is earning enough money to become too lazy for upgrades, or see that profit won’tbe worth the investment. I don’t think they even read most submissions, I’m guessing robots? It’d mean a lot of human resources and expenses to pull it off, plus as I said, it won’t change the fact that Triond is already known to most as mediocre when it comes to quality

    Re Tulan

Tulan or whatever your name is, if you actually read this article instead of simply skimming through it like a juvenile illiterate you would have read that I have actually praised this site for what it is! I mean for fks sake people, I take the time to write the article, at least take the time to read it properly before commenting so ignorantly! Thanks for reading anyways :)

I’m sorry, you know you do some cursing but your such a great writer, I check in with you sometimes. Your comedic senses are on and popping.
This piece is a scream, it’s funny but you’ve also made some very good points.
“Internet trolls” that’s hilarious. But the spellchecker is off. People do keep linking. And I have seen some articles I couldn’t even begin to read.
The video and music capabilities sound o.k But you know what, you are a such a great writer.
You should write Op-Ed for newspapers on-line or off-line. I wish you the best with your gift.

    Hi Minister Marlene.

Thanks so much for reading and commenting! It makes me happy when people compliment me about my writing as I take my writing very personally. I’m far from a ‘great writer’! I’m just not a poor writer, and that is something I can live with. :)
