Much speculation has arisen about Triond payments. Have Triond earnings been cut in half?
Some writers on Triond have seemingly noticed a downward shift in earnings and have wondered if Triond earnings have been reduced.
I heard from one writer who stated that Triond earnings had been cut in half, under a new Triond policy; others wrote asking me to join in a possible boycott.
I decided to get it from the horse’s mouth, as it were, so I contacted Triond for clarification about this issue. I thought that if such a rumor were true, it would lead to a possible exodus from Triond, with writers seeking out other opportunities with a higher pay rate. I have to admit I was also considering this course of action.
I sent off a letter to Triond, requesting clarification. I received an immediate response from Triond support that I’m including below, which should put to bed any concerns about a reduction in Triond earnings.
“Triond is not currently experiencing any problems related to earnings, nor have we decreased our users’ earnings by half or reduced writer payouts. ”
The e-mail also discussed the earning potential and acknowledged its importance to the Triond community.
”. . . we are working every day to ensure the highest earnings potential for all articles published within Triond.”
The letter outlined the steps that are taken in relation to negotiating with advertising providers and how Triond works to optimize sites for search relevance.
I have to admit, I was impressed and felt reassured that Triond is still a good little opportunity.
This reply about Triond earnings was very much appreciated and I thank Triond support for such a timely response. This information should go a long way in setting minds at rest that Triond is dealing fairly with its writers.
Online writing inevitabley sees upswings and downswings, depending on the present Internet climate. And that climate may affect Triond earnings.

I am glad that you have managed to set the record straight!

Thanks for your work on this issue. I had already read a similar response from Triond that Goodselfme had received. At least triond will notice all of the wonder.

Dugg it!… There was much speculation too about Bukisa lately… Just the latest hype or a reliable new site for online writers?… Well, I have to say that Bukisa sure is not as reliable, professional etc… as Triond is.

Hi Athlyn Green. Thanks for clearing that. I’m a newbie on Triond. I like it so far.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the feedback. I had placed Triond’s reply in italics but for some reason the italics didn’t make it into this article. I will go back and try to fix this.

I remain skeptical. Without reviewing a company’s financials, we’ll never really know how much of a cut it’s taking on advertising revenue.
December 30th, 2008 at 10:18 am
Thanks for checking this out. I am new to Triond and have written many articles which I hope to publish on this site.
December 30th, 2008 at 10:49 am
Thanks for sharing this info, I never earn enough to notice a cut
but had been contacted by many who were concerned, I told them to do what you did, find out from the top.
December 30th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Hi Glynis,
Yes, Triond has always been a good opportunity, with effort put into promoting our articles and payment month after month. I thought in light of that, it was only fair to not make assumptions, rather to try to get answers.
I am very appreciative of the opportunity writers are offered via Triond. Any opportunity that pays writers over and over again, deserves high praise.
December 30th, 2008 at 11:51 am
The better you write the more you earn, and Triond provides an excellent opportunity for you to grow as a writer. Thank you for sharing this information.

I always try now to think: “content-rich.”
“Good value for the money” always is relevant.
Offer your readers useful information, use attractive, easy-to-read formatting, include keywords, add pictures and links. In other words, make your content interesting to read and your articles works that people will return to–either for sheer enjoyment or for the resources they need.
Online articles have to compete with a dizzying line-up of other articles. What can you do to make your article stand out?

Athlyn, Thanks!

Since, like you say, this article is on the hot content list, you should be able to tell us whether the info that Triond gave you is correct or not. Judge them by their actions, not by their words.
December 30th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
nice post, thanks for giving light to the issue,i myself believe there wasn’t a cut, though i believe that the number of views have decline, even articles that making it to the hot content list don’t have much views compared before.

Thank you so much for sharing the info with us.

There may be other factors at work that have may have affected views and earnings. Triond has a record of good SEO efforts and prompt payments. When I wrote in, I received an almost immediate reply. Now, this doesn’t appear to be shady dealing, at all.
Speed Limit, I suggest if you have concerns, that you write Triond to see if these can be addressed to your satisfaction.
Keep in mind that online opportunities see fluctuations, just as blog readerships does, and as websites do. We just went through a Holiday month. Now, for some markets, this proved very lucrative, for others not at all.
I remember working in a retail store and because we were selling shoes, Dec. was a dead month. About the only thing that sold was slippers, used as gifts; however, other stores selling different products found it their most lucrative month.

There are always skeptics, but I am most skeptical of those who won’t do as you did: Go to the source, because at the very least, you have a response to hold them accountable to. Some just want to keep it stirred up, without any solid facts to justify their skepticism. Excellence again Athlyn.

Very timely and relevant article. I’m very content with my earnings here at Triond. In fact, the number of views needed to earn a cent seem to decrease as the number of views increase, which is definitely very favorable for all writers.
December 31st, 2008 at 1:42 am
Good information!
December 31st, 2008 at 7:54 am
I have noticed a definate drop in my earnings over the past month or so. I simply attributed it to everyone going and looking for christmas related stuff rather than anything else. If my earnings don’t start to increase again in the next month or two, then I think there may be something foul afoot.
then again, maybe people don’t like me anymore :’(

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the link.
We are such a great community. This shows, through all the reader comments. I appreciate everyone taking time to express their views.
I, too, have noticed this month, my earnings are up.

Great Stuff. I’m sure Triond wants us to make as much money as possible, (which pays their paychecks) I’m glad there won’t be any kind of organized boycott, because I haven’t found any online publisher better than Triond yet.

This is some very helpful info, as I already know that the payout is not very high when it comes to articles on triond. I myself have found another site that is better for making money, yet not as user friendly which is why I’m sticking with triond.
December 31st, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Don’t lose site of the fact that what you are getting, is 50% of the total ‘take’. If you get 1000 views and earn $1.00, that means that Triond earned $2.00 and split the earnings down the middle. I trust that this is true and is the case, to which I hold great respect. Any entity or organization that splits the proceeds 50/50 is entitled to respect and reverence.
It really helps if you can get an article listed on the TOP-10 listing, and if it ‘goes viral’ like 20-30 views per SECOND for a few days, -you’re into some serious money! I have experienced this recently with an article that sat on the #1 spot since circa Dec. 18th until just a day or two ago (about 10-days.) I earned quite a bit from that one article, and cumulatively from several other ‘top performers’ in my corral that were getting decent hits/views this month.
Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Like the old Chinese proverb says, “Small wealth is man made, great wealth is blessing from heavens.”
January 1st, 2009 at 2:28 am
Well done Athlyn. Triond would be very happy to see that someone has gone about questioning them in the correct way. Agree with stickman, get an article into the top 10 and your away laughing. Cheers

My earnings have been cut in half, so even though the boycott was not a good idea, I can see why it was done. I did not join it, but that does not mean that writers were stupid to do so.
They were protesting the fact that their (our) material can easily be stolen from triond’s sites. This wholesale theft means that half the views one would normally get, went to the person who stole it, RATHER than to us, the authors and creators.
They were also protesting the fact that something is DEFINITELY wrong with the viewing process. Five reviews on SU would normally mean about seven to eight thousand views per night. Lately, five reviews and twenty thumbs up brought hundreds (if that) rather than thousands of views.
My articles that were picked up by other sites owners meant that in a couple of days, I used to have more than 30,000 views. NOwadays, those links yield nothing. At the same time, thieves are copying wholesale articles and getting most of those views to their sites.
I didn’t give much thought to the ‘more payment per views’ idea, even though I can see where they’re coming from.
Nowadays, more ads appear in our articles. More and more, the ads are almost taking over the works. Have you seen how they’re positioned as though they are more important than the article itself? More ads in our words should mean more payment for us. I’m not out for money, but I understand this too.
We are all writers here, we should support and understand each other. Again, I didn’t join the boycott, but it was more than just an overnight plan.
Earnings and views HAVE dropped. As another half of your research for this article, ask the authors who work hard at promoting their stuff.
January 1st, 2009 at 8:31 am
I agree with Anne. My earnings and page views have dropped by more than half.
My page views have been stolen by article thieves and I had to do a great deal of work to track down and expose those thieves! My time would have been better spent writing and better security to prevent this theft would have helped.
I didn’t join the boycott either, but it had nothing to do with Triond pay rates, it was about plagiarism and loss of revenue. The authors who have been victims of this are right to be angry and to ask for more security measures on the site.
January 1st, 2009 at 12:41 pm
Hi Anne and Louie,
You both raise some good points. To be honest, my ernings are up, so I can’t comment on that side of things.
Unfortunately, online writing, by it’s very nature, leaves writers vulnerable. When you produce much content, there is always the risk that unscrupulous individuals will steal it.
To be fair to Triond, let’s assume they are aware of the issue and are discussing methods of reducing impact.
Remember, because this is a 50-50 split, reduced page views on-site, also means reduced Triond revenues.
The Internet is saturated with content, spiders and search engines have to assign relevance, bookmarking sites surge in popularity then wane, what’s hot today is tomorrow’s old news.
January 1st, 2009 at 11:26 pm
Athlyn, thanks again for your useful post
January 1st, 2009 at 11:36 pm
Hi Athlyn Green,
Thank you for investigating this issue, because I too have considered this issue. Although, much of a writer’s earnings is linked directly with the type of content that they are writing and publishing. Articles about cancer will pay higher than an article about free music.
Nice job.
God Bless,
Nelson Doyle

Well triond is by far not the best paying site on the web, as many of you already know and wont say. However, Unlike Bukisa, which I also found to be garbage, Triond offers me the abilityto post Anything. Not that I have tried to publish anything extreme to test it, but I found much of what i write was “too short” or some other lame excuse. Who writes 200 word poems? And why would that matter? Anyway, there just is noy much money in publishing whatever you want except for exceptional blogs, If you want big money write for others.
January 2nd, 2009 at 1:20 am
thanks for checking into this it sounds like youve cleaned up a lot of the whispers if not all the concerns.
January 2nd, 2009 at 8:13 am
Hi Hated Nation,
While, as you say, Triond may not be the best paying site on the Internet, I still believe it’s a good writing gig. Why? Anything that pays you over and over again, pays off over time. For instance, for my older articles, I’ve been paid far more than a one-time payment from article writing sites.
Now, admittedly, hard copy publications usually pay more, still, waiting months to hear if your work is accepted and then waiting months to get paid, is something that many writers find undesirable.
I always suggest a mix: if you like the payment from hard copy publications, send your work out–but in the meantime, produce enough content so that you have steady income coming in.
Is it easy to grow a writing income? No. Can you succeed over time? Yes.
It takes hard work but many of us write because we can’t picture NOT doing so. We aren’t in it for the money initially.
January 2nd, 2009 at 10:42 pm
Thanks for the info, and clearing the air about Triond. Good article.
January 3rd, 2009 at 11:35 pm
that’s what I thought
January 14th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Hi Anne,
This article was in no way a criticism of writers who have concerns about their content or page views–and I wasn’t addressing the issue of the boycott.
I think we all are concerned about page views and traffic because as most of us know, that’s the name of the game with online writing.
I believe, from what I’ve seen, that Triond works hard so that our articles get exposure; however, there are many factors that are beyond Triond’s control.
It can be very frustrating when you pour hours of work into writing and then the return is far from stellar.
As I always suggest, it is a good idea, if possible, to work a number of opportunities because the Internet is constantly changing. What’s working today may not tomorrow.
For myself, I constantly evaluate what’s working, what’s not, and then make decisions as to where I want to direct my energies.
With all this said, I want to wish all Triond writers a happy and prosperous 2009.
January 19th, 2009 at 3:43 pm
Thank you again, I had heard this rumor, but wasn’t sure, since I am fairly new to Triond. Thank you for clearing up this matter.

Thanks Athlyn
March 14th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
Thank you for this information. I am new to Triond and have only submitted a few articles and so have not recieved payment yet. I will pay close attention to what happens when I do start to get paid.
March 19th, 2009 at 11:31 pm
It is true that earnings have been cut into half.. Back then artcles on Gomestic.com used to earn 6.7 cents per 10 views. Now they earn 2 cents per 10 views. This is horrible. This way you will have to work very very harder to earn few dollars. Is it worth doing?
This may be the effect of recession. Then we need to find better ways to market our articles to get more page views than before.
If you do not understand or believe what I said, just check your earnings article wise and check amount per 10 views. Most of the articles are now earning about 2-2.5 cents for 10 views. It is TRUE. You can check for yourself. No need to write an article for this.
March 31st, 2009 at 11:16 am
Hi Fornis,
Triond has stated that earnings haven’t been cut. Each one of us will have decide whether to believe this or not.
I, personally, haven’t experienced a problem with earnings; others may find that their earning seem to have dropped.
There are many factors that contribute to earning drops and increased.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
March 31st, 2009 at 11:21 am
Hi Again Fornis,
I was thinking about what you said about earnings per views. Remember that advertisements may have been changed and the ads that appear on pages may also affect our earnings.
PPP advertising influences where ads are placed and what we, as authors, make when someone clicks on those ads.
If advertisers are cutting their advertising budget, it is reasonable to assume that they may be allocating a lower amount for ads.
