Taking a look into Triond, Triond friends and some of the truths behind it.
Recently I took a intentional break from Triond because I think after a while, like a relationship, everyone needs a break! You can’t appreciate what you have if you never miss it and you eventually come to resent it. I was coming to that point when I decided to take a break from triond. I could never take a break from writing because it is simply something that is in my heart and mind, something inbred into me but as far as publishing goes it is a different story.(LOL)I need an agent.
Lately I have been thinking about a number of things when concerning Triond. Some good, some bad. First of all I have written to them numerous times about the hit counter not working properly for me and still no resolve. For example last night I submitted a story called Saving The Innocence: Possession but when they published it, not only was half the story missing, but all the links I had added as well as the copyright symbol were missing as well. My comp has been acting up on me lately so I had to continually keep going into the article to refix it, then submit, then check it to make sure it was fixed. I must have checked it at least 10 times, however; even with the responses I had on it, it is only showing 10 hits?? I have had this problem for quite sometime and keep getting the answer if you had a sudden burst of hits it takes a while to count, although it never seems to count those so called hits! I did do an experiement and for every 3-5 clicks I am recieving one hit if that! Some take about 10-12 before they will count as one.So the question is when is someone going to actually check into this problem?
One good thing I enjoy about triond is the publishing is made easy but lately it is not easy when my articles and pictures are only half there. Also I was making 60 cents a day and have seen a 50% rise each month. This month I actually spent some time marketing them and have seen a 50% drop so what is up with that! Yes to be blunt I am getting very frustrated and pissed off, excuse the French (LOL)
Another thing that is bothering me is people keep adding me as their friend, they want me to comment and I do, but they never have any intention on commenting on my work or I get around to her the next time but a lot of the time I only write one article per day if that and comment on everyones work at least 2-3 fold and these people cannot even be bothered to check out my one thing so here is the hard cold truth,if you have no intention on commenting on my work or if you are just spamming my work so you can promote your own don’t add me as a friend because friendship is, I scratch your back, you scratch mine! I believe a lot of people feel this way but do not want to get a bad response from those that do comment on their work so they keep their mouths shut about it and put up with it but all of you that do comment, this is not directed at you as you very well know, it is directed at the spammers and those that only want to take but never give!
Also to those who write numerous articles, it is impossible to comment on numerous daily articles unless you are friendless or you copy and paste and don’t even bother reading them which does no one any good and because you commented on only a few of them they never comment on your work because they expect you to comment all 5- 10 daily articles which I am not sure about some people on triond but for those that have been at here for quite some time, it is impossible to comment on that many by one person everyday! If you do, you are then taking away from the other writers who deserve their work to be commented on who have a reasonable amount such as 1-3 pieces and because you spent so much time commenting on the one you never get around to the other 25 writers. These people do not see that at least you took your time to read and comment on some of their work and you didn’t have to!
Okay I am done now (LOL) I think I will write Triond about this hit counter yet again and about the drop in funds when I am still writing articles and have more articles but less money. After that I am going to get my gloves and rubber boots on and do some weeding out (LOL)Sorry to rant and rave and not have anything more constructive or positive to write about but that is why I titled the article the hard cold truth.

Yes, but how do you really feel? Perhaps a penny saved is a Triond oversight. lol. I have lawn work to do, too. That will make us feel better. Letting off steam helps, too.

With a good heart I accept. I find it okay and cool though…

Letting of steam is good for anyone. We all have our days, you know

I;m with you all the way Tanya!! Especially the commenting part! I spend hours going through others work, most of which I really enjoy, but it takes time…and sometimes I just don’t have that luxury. I’m not asking for reciprocation for the sake of it, but sometimes an odd comment would be nice from some ‘friends’!!! Maybe it’s time we all did a little friend weeding….!

I hadn’t heard about the hit counter problem until this article and am going to have to keep a closer eye on it now. You expressed your frustration eloquently and respectfully. I’m in agreement with you about everything here. Try and breathe and have a better day. Michael

A very well written article. I have a couple friends here that will post 20 to 30 articles a day. There’s no way I can read all of them and everyone else’s. Out of the 20 or 30 some articles, I’ll pick the ones to read that sounds the most interesting and leave comments on them. I’d like to be able to read them all, but I also want to read what my other friends post too.

I agree with Darla…

You sound frustrated Tanya, maybe it’s the weather.
Just kidding. I also wrote Triond support because of a sudden drop on my page views last October 14 when I was closely monitoring my day’s count. It’s something like 71 but the graph recorded 17 on that day. Probably it’s a miscoding? I don’t know. Same reason as you mentioned. Well, everyone’s entitled to air their views and frustrations; and you composed an article!

That should be October 5, not 14. Maybe it coincided with your low hits?
October 16th, 2009 at 10:31 am
I have the same frustrations with Triond too.

Thanks for sharing

I have the same trouble too. Posting my article but it didn’t get through. Still I won’t give up on Triond

a great article, I see more views on an article I had on Stumble than I did on the content page here, so I know what you are talking about, I think things a slowing down here it seems, I had a poem show up on twitter 2 days ago and it is still not on my content page, strange huh? cheers:}

Well composed and expressed with heart too.

I see that I am a little late on commenting lol. I would say that Triond is slacking big time because I have been having the same problems with the pictures being uploaded and the copyright being removed from the bottom. Great article as always and keep it up!

Misty, I hope you feel better after letting off a little steam. I get a little aggravated that I can’t leave comments on any articles that call for an email address. I put my addy on there but the comment still doesn’t go in and they can’t fix it. Other than that I am well satisfied with Triond. Shame on me, I don’t even count my views.

Nice one…

I try to take everything in stride, to take the good with the bad and to remember to always keep moving forward.

hmm… very true! agree with every word above!

Nice article, especially the portions on comments.

Tanya, you have been good in writing, don’t ever think if giving up okay? Maybe just a quick break if you are tired…just do what you can…

A lot of things which I should have written also since my visit trends had been acting wild lately. Imagine 30 views with 5 only appearing in the graph. Then comment issues, how many clicks before it loads then there’s that fuzzy issue of requiring your name and email add that if you have less patience, you end up not commenting. Life normally has its tactics I suppose. I wonder if I could even get 15 dollar earnings by the end of the year. Patience, patience….tsk, tsk.

Viva Triond!

You go girl! I have yet to write an article about the positives and negatives of writing for Triond..but this Australia Gangland series has got me tied-up for a while damn it! I applaud your candidness (and don’t worry Mystify, I have a mouth like a septic tank but I am trying to tone it down a bit)..and I can relate to the omissions bit up there somewhere..I did my nana in the forum and e-mailed Triond several times in regards to missing pictures/video content..it’s not only an inconvenience when this happens..it’s a loss in readers/views/comments and therefore a loss in potential earnings. A timely and fantastic write Mystify

Oh and these greedy, self-serving types that don’t reciprocate..I’ve had it up to here with them too!!..sorry..um..I loved this article

Good on you to let off some steam. Hopefully the Triond folks will come around and patch up those cracks. Honestly, writing for Triond should not be all about making money (pennies?). Triond is a good platform to expose your writing and get feedback. There are other places where you can make more moolah and faster, too. But that calls for more professional article writing.

Thumbs up. As sad as it can be, that is the truth about triond and you’ve nailed it to the wall. Like Mark said, “Triond should not be all about making money” I find it a good place to share interesting topics with everyone.

I share your sentiments…:)

You go Girl!! LOL.. I am with you all the way.. I sure hope the counter issue gets resolved. I have the same issue too. It gets on my nerves, at times. Oh and yes, no offence to anyone, but the friends thing is so true. It is a give and take relationship, is it not? I am here to stay this time around..lol..

wow, I think looking at all the comments you hit the nail on the head with this one. It was a great read and I totally agree with you on all aspects. How do those people manage to write so many articles a day? I guess I will only write about something I am passionate about and take time to get a feel for my work. If I feel nothing for my work how can I expect readers to feel something!
