5) Pictures

You can put neat little pictures somewhat relevant to the bullet. The pictures don’t necessarily have to be directly relevant, they just have to be vaguely related to the bullet. The best thing to do is use pictures that are the same width as the one preceding it. You don’t necessarily have to have them at the same width but, you need pictures or it won’t be a good “Top Etc.” Post. Pictures always look good on a blog, sometimes I don’t even skim through blogs if there’s no pictures.

4) Everyone is doing it

I mean, if everyone is doing it, why not you too? It’s important to keep up with all the fads or then people might think you’re being original. Who wants innovation? Don’t even think about it. Well, unless you’re one of those strange people who like to make money. There happens to be a lot of money associated with the field of innovation, which is lame.

3) Pleasing to the eye

Simply put, it looks nice. You don’t really need to worry about when to put an indention or start a new paragraph. You just need to start a new point, put a picture, then put some text under the picture. Your readers will be happy to see that the formatting is consistent. Some companies’ websites just look bad, so not a lot of people don’t buy from them because, poor appearance can lead to distrust.

2) Organization

This basically should fall within the point before hand but, then I’d have to put “Top 4″ Reasons. That sounds lame. Five, Ten, Fifteen, multiples of five are the best. When you have your post organized in the “Top etc.” fashion, your readers know what to expect where, so if they don’t like what they’re reading then they can go to the next point and look at that. It gives your readers some freedom to pick what they wish to read.

People need to know what is best, what is second best, and what is pretty good. If we didn’t have top ten lists then how would we know what is the best? This is probably the most important hing. If we didn’t have Top100Songs.org, how would I know what kind of music to like? “Top etc.” lists are great, you don’t even need a reason for claiming something is in the top, if it’s on a list, it has to be true.
