Three Suggestions for Triond

We all have suggestions for Triond, here are mine.

We all have ideas about how Triond could be improved, but I figured that I should publish my suggestion ideas here, so that I could get the input of other users. Rather than send them in privately to Triond, I figured that they could be developed here to cater for the largest number of Triond users. As such, here are my suggestions for Triond.

Triond Forum

While commenting on articles and private messages on the Triond website are great, I believe it would be absolutely wonderful if Triond had a website hosted on the Triond website. It would be particularly useful if the login to the forum was connected to the Triond website, so we wouldn’t need to login separately each day. This would allow members of Triond to talk to each other on more general issues, as opposed to talking about individual articles. Successful Triond writers could also post some advice in the forums for all the other members looking to improve their writing or increase their Triond income.

Triond Chat

While this wouldn’t be too important if there was a forum on the Triond site, I still think that a Triond chat would be a very beneficial application on the site. It would allow quick communication between all members that are online at any one time, and would be a very simple element to implement on the site. It would also allow more experienced writers to teach newer members to use the site effectively.

User Statistics

I think it would be very beneficial for a lot of writers to be able to see more information on their account. A graph, showing views of articles per daya over the last 15-30 days. This would allow people to monitor their progress on the site. Daily graphs on account earnings and earnings per article would also be useful, as they would allow us to see which articles are the most successful, which day of the week we earn the most money, and which type of article pays the writer the most in royalties.

I agree that some statistics are useful, but I think when reading your text, you expect too much from them.

The daily earning per article would be useless to you, becuase there are certain kinds of income from ads that is only put into your account every week, and some even just end of month. So if you have a feeling you earned more that special day, it’s becuase you reaped in the work of days gone by as well.

If you want to check on that, make a little excel sheet and monitor your articles, your hits, and the income for a time. You’ll see these jumps quite clearly then.

The problem with using excel is that you need to write each article, each hit seperately. You can’t copy/paste all your articles into Excel, because the Triond content page isn’t formatted to enable that. I currently have 65 articles, so you can see the difficulty of doing that daily. I can use the Triond toolbar to see how much I earn each day, but I don’t see my full day worth of views because of where I live. The Triond day ends at 8am my time, so I don’t see how many hits I get between 00:00-08:00 my time. That’s one third of my day that I don’t have any information on. I really don’t think it would be that difficult to have a graph which shows your article views each day over the last 15. It also wouldn’t be that tough to have earnings/views shown.
As for ads that you get paid weekly/monthly, I sure don’t have any of them. I earn almost the same amount every single day.

Interesting suggestions. I’m not sure how much use the chat would get, but I’m sure the forums would be popular.

A forum would be a great idea.

I would love to see some way to find out where the article traffic is coming from (ideally for my articles and for the whole domain (i.e. the Google analytics for authspot or quazen). It would really help us to find ways to get the most exposure for articles. It would also help answer that burning question that we have all asked at one time “how the heck did that article suddenly get 20,000 hits?”
