Three More Suggestions for Triond

We all love Triond, but it could still be improved a lot.

Everyone I know or have heard from who writes for Triond say that they love Triond. They love getting to submit their work, they love receiving their Publish Notification email, they love receiving comments and likes on their articles and finally, they love getting their paychecks. Over the past few months we’ve seen a number of updates incorporated into the site, such as Comment/Account integration, meaning your identity isn’t stolen by others. We can customise our profiles even more than before, we’ve gotten a cleaned up categories section and we’ve gotten an online editor (which this is being written in). But here are some more suggestions I have.

More “Friends News”

Instead of seeing our last 10 friends’ news information (published work), I think it would be far better if we saw everything from the past week. The work could be listed in pages of 10, and we could move between each of the pages, like we can do with our articles on Triond if we have more than 10. This means that people with loads of friends would still get to see all their friends’ work. Instead of missing out on the majority of the news, we’d get to see all our friends’ work.

Streamline Site

The new site design that Triond got a few months ago sure is better than the old one, but there are definite problems related with the site. A lot of the elements of the site that load separately can take a lot of time to load. If I try to view my past earnings, and look at past months to see how much each article I earned, it can take over 10 minutes to load. At times, even elements of the dashboard can take a long time to load. In this sense, I think that the old site worked better, because there was far less lag in terms of loading.

Permanent Drafts

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s submitted an article, without being able to save it first, and then it gets declined and you’ve lost it for good. Sometimes it can be really small, that you could easily fix, but you don’t get the chance anymore because the draft is gone. If your draft was maintained, even after submitting it, it would mean that if your work was declined you would still have it. If your work was accepted and published, you could then go delete the draft if you wished.

The friens news are already there when you click community. So no need to do anything there.

The loading problem is not only on the triond site, it’s on all sites of triond and all articles. Some articles of my friends I still haven’t seen to date, because the page outtimes before it is loaded …

And funnily, I have all drafts saved after I sumitted, and in plus, I can’t get rid of them :D

Great suggestions. I like the idea of being able to save your drafts on the online editor. Nice article!

    Blessings.

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.

I agree. How about this as fourth item… divide the written material into poetry, prose, and ‘news’… or something like that.
    Thanks,
    Clay

Excellent suggestions for changes. I agree with all of these. I tend to miss so many articles when they are grouped together the way that they are.

I never, ever save the drafts on the online editor. I write, proof, spell check (etc) all my work in a word processor and then copy and paste it in to the editor. That way, I have full control! The number of people I have heard who have lost their work is a little shameful on Triond’s behalf!
