This is the Reason Why I Write So Much About Sex on Triond

Sex is a very important part of everyone’s life. To begin with that’s how all of us got here. I do a lot of writing about sex.

Sex sex sex sex sex.  I know, you may be tired of reading about sex.  But I’m beginning to believe Freud was right.  Life is about sex.  I’m speaking about the big picture of sex, not what people do in bed or on the sofa or on the floor or in the back seat of a car or in the bathroom of a bar.

I’m speaking of gender: male, female.  I’m speaking about conception.  I’m speaking about physical and emotional intimacy.  After all, take away sex and there is no life.  I mean no life.  No people.  No insects.  No plants.  NO LIFE

So, sex is a big deal.  You better believe it’s a big deal.

I’m a flash fiction writer.  I got my MFA in fiction writing from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006 when I was 59 years old.  The picture above this article is of the Cathedral of Learning on the campus of Pitt.  I studied and taught there as a graduate student.

I publish articles on Triond mainly about how to write flash fiction and I publish flash fiction stories.  Many of the stories deal with sexuality.  The simple answer as to why I write so much about sex on Triond is that it gets lots of page views.  People are interested in sex.  The more complex answer is that sex is about more than just people having orgasms.

One of my favorite television shows is a comedy on Fox Network called “Scrubs”.  Scrubs is about doctors working in a hospital.  Now it’s a comedy.  The writers, producers and actors and actresses are out for laughs.  The show is in syndication.  I didn’t know about it during it’s original broadcast but now I watch one or two episodes almost every night.  The reason the show holds my attention (and apparently held the attention of millions of viewers for the length of its original broadcast which went on for several years) is because the show is about more than just laughs.  The show deals with friendship, male-female relationships, love, sex, mutual respect, professionalism, death and many other aspects of life.  Remember, the show is a comedy, a very popular comedy.

What I’m trying to say in my clumsy way is that my sex stories are about more than just sex.  You can check this out for yourself by clicking on any of the links below.

Hello, oldster: I guess you could say this article sums up my creative writing philosophy. I don’t think it’s a bad philosophy and it keeps me focused on what I should be doing.

Hello, excellent article and very well-written. Yes, I do agree that sex does catch a lot of reader’s attention. Physical and emotional intimacy are very important. It’s a shame that both men and women sometimes push each other away and don’t allow others to get too close for fear of getting hurt.

There are many reasons people write about sex, but you have only tickled the surface of the real reasons. Yes, sex is a big deal, and obviously it tickles your fancy to write about sex. However, you haven’t offered any real reasons as to your particular obsession. It seems to run beyond the ordinary course of fascination for you, so there must be some deeper-seeded connection to the subject. No one is asking for gory details, but you’ve got to admit that there must be more to it than simply a nominal interest.

I, for one, believe that if a person chooses a particular avenue for their literary journey, then there should at least be some sort of purpose to its presence; a purpose beyond that of adding to the heaps and reams of its existence; perhaps in the aisle of accomplishment, of knowledge, or of education. Personal gain or pleasure aside, even the controversial writer should choose a medium that they might enjoy challenging the decorum of, even if the only self-challenge is to illuminate some facet of humanity uncommonly lighted on.

Oh, thank God. I’m a newbie with this whole Triond thing (I don’t even have anything published as of yet) so I wasn’t sure what the stance would be on writing about sexuality. This makes me feel a little better since I find myself often writing on the subject.

Sex IS very important and it bothers me that some people in the world like to pretend it’s not really that big of a deal.

Sex is life. For me that’s all the reason a writer or doctor needs to make it a focus of study.

Yes, it’s the big picture. Nature has created the reaction in biology so that lively matter can reproduce by adjusting the sensation of depletion or inflation which basic matter experiences into a subtle one of pleasure. Your own self interest is most certainly being used by nature and the physics thereof.

I was reading another article and the title of this article caught my attention. I noticed that I had already posted a while back. lol. I like your writing style on this piece. But yes, I have noticed that sex is a topic that most people want to read. I wrote a few on the topic and noticed a lot of views. I am not sex expert like sexy me. About the emotional intimacy, I am not too sure about that. I think most guys like the physical aspect of sex. Don’t want to assume for everyone is the same.

Great article but have to beg to differ on Scrubs, it is a poorly written slapstick comedy that really sucks and is written for the common denominator of intellect!! Kinda like Walmart!
